I thought you should know it, too. ■ Tell me Green Bay Packers line- backer Clay Matthews isn't jinxed. This talented guy can't stay healthy on the football field or the softball diamond. ■ The season is still about three months away, but I like what I'm reading about new Packers defen- sive coordinator Mike Pettine. It looks like he's bringing some tough- ness and accountability to every guy on his side of the ball. About time. ■ A lot of news surfaced recently about the upcoming contract deal for Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers possibly wanting an opt- out clause. I'm positive the Packers are going to make Rodgers the high- est paid player in all of football and he'll finish his career in Green Bay. I can't see him playing any where else. Can you? ■ I'm trying to figure out why so many Milwaukee Brewers fans are so concerned that the team has been shut out a league-high nine times this season. Whether you lose 5-0 or 10-9, it counts as just one loss. Don't worry about the shutouts. It's just one loss, that's it. ■ Once again it looks like Brewers general manager David Stearns made a very good move by going out on the market and signing 37-year-old catcher Erik Kratz. Kratz has been outstanding so far even if the sample is really small. How can you not like the jobs Stearns and manager Craig Counsell are doing? ■ Here are my top 10 teams in Major League baseball: 1. Houston Astros, 2. New York Yankees, 3. Boston Red Sox, 4. Washington Nationals, 5. Cleveland Indians, 6. Seattle Mariners, 7. Chicago Cubs, 8. Milwaukee Brewers, 9. St. Louis Cardinals, 10. Atlanta Braves. ■ For the most part, the drafts in baseball, football and basketball are nothing more than a guessing game. Tom Brady was a sixth-round draft choice. Mike Piazza was one of the final players picked in the MLB Draft. Ryan Leaf was the first play- er taken in the NFL Draft. Two years ago, Marquette's Henry Ellenson was the 18th pick in the NBA Draft by Detroit. He might never get to the league. And by the way, NFL teams passed on Brady not once, not twice, but for five rounds. And those are the experts making those picks. ■ I might be the only guy in the world who thinks LeBron James is the greatest basketball player ever. Michael Jordan was brilliant, a great winner, but individually, he couldn't do the things James does, especially on defense. I've got James first, Jordan second, Magic Johnson third, Kareem Abdul- Jabbar fourth and Hakeem Olajuwon fifth. ■ What's going on with the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee men's basketball pro- gram with all the players packing up and leaving after a year or two? It wasn't that way under Rob Jeter or the days when the Panthers shocked the college basketball world by making back-to-back Sweet 16s. ■ I saw a video of controversial receiver Terrell Owens working out and he looked brilliant. I know he's a distraction more than he should be, but I'm convinced he can still play and is better than more than 60 percent of the receivers in the NFL. Is he worth a try in Green Bay? Why not? If he doesn't fit in, cut him. ■ The U.S. Open is this weekend at Shinnecock Hills in New York. I don't see Tiger Woods seriously contending or cracking the top 10. Before they even tee it up in the practice rounds, I've got Justin Rose winning the championship. Finishing behind Rose will be Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Matt Kuchar. Who do you like? ■ What's going on with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck? Not much news on him nationally. With absolutely no information on his recovery, I'm going out on a limb and predicting he misses at least the first half of the season and maybe all of it.
