Stam Continued on page 2 I like telling you about our services at our church. This past Sunday an old phrase was brought up that we should revive and it is W WJD or "what would Jesus do? The Bible tells us we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. If you break that verse down which is found in Phil 4:13 you can find that it is personal about us being an individual in Christ and that whatever is placed in front of you, can be accomplished if you approach it the way Je- sus would and then lean on the Lord for your help and inspiration. Don't take your atten- tion from God's love even though troubles, worries and attacks on your character will try to keep you from succeeding. Set your true affection on serving and loving God with all your heart. Don't be too concerned what about oth- ers think of you because God knows you through and through. We had a great week end as we were at Brookside nursing facility entertaining some new friends. It feels good to entertain the residents and see the smiles on their fac- es as you just might sing a song that brings a little joy to their lives. I've waited way too long to find the joy that entertaining others can bring. I wonder if the aides and nurses are still hearing the residents recite their new word we taught them. We taught them to say "whoopee doodle" and they enjoyed just letting that slide off their tongues. As we were picking up our gear you could hear their new word com- ing down the halls. Sunday afternoon we had about 20 people enjoying Gospel music at Cup Creek Gener- al Baptist Church as we held our version of It is important to remind ourselves that freedom of religion cannot be taken for granted. It requires constant attention. Sad- ly, Americans do not understand separation of church and state. Most think the state- ment has something to do with our Consti- tution. The ACLU and elite media express- es these words written in a letter express- ing the personal opinion of one man. They repeat it so often, without telling the origin of the statement, that some actually think it has something to do with the Constitution. We must constantly affirm the distortion of this single statement or else people believe it. Even this man's opinion does not mean we should separate religion from public life. Religion and moral convictions are not an alien or threatening force in public life. The great majority of educated Americans know morality has its roots in the Christian reli- gion. Throughout history there have been those who hate the values taught by Chris- tianity. We are all created in the image of God and are accountable to Him. Every effort should be made in government and soci- ety in general to cul- tivate the principles taught by the Ten Commandments. Honesty, integri- ty, compassion, charity, respect and mar- riage are values that have made America great. The elite media and many political leaders seek to destroy all that made Amer- ica great. We must reject the idea that toler- ance supersedes the moral law of God. Let us review our heritage and protect our na- tion from the evil forces of liberalism and corrupt politicians. As Loren stood with his father, gazing at a beautiful Minnesota lake, the little four- year-old asked: "Daddy, who made this lake? " "God made it," replied his dad, "and God made those trees and all this beauti- ful scenery." There was a moment's silence. Then, placing his hands on his hips, little Loren said: "He sure did a good job! " Yes, He did, yet this scenery was noth- ing compared with the glory this earth will know when Christ returns to reign. If earth's rivers and lakes, its mountains and valleys, its landscapes and seascapes can now be so breath-taking, so awe-inspiring, what will be its beauty when prophecy is ful- filled and the curse removed! "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them [God's people, Isra- el] and the desert shall rejoice, and blos- som as the rose. "It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Leb- anon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God." "…for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert. "And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of wa- ter…" "And the ransomed of the Lord shall re- turn, and come to Zion with songs and ever- lasting joy upon their heads: they shall ob- tain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sigh- ing shall flee away" (Isa. 35:1,2,6,7,10).
