Originally from Colombia, he has an MBA as well as a Ph.D. and is an active researcher, publishing extensively in the areas of international fi nance, international business, and immigrant-owned businesses. The center aims to promote science and medical careers for Hispanic youth, expose students to biomedical and clinical research, and increase the representation of Latino faculty at the college. GoodmanTheatre. org Henry Godinez is the resident artistic associate at the Goodman Theatre, where he directs the Latino Theatre Festival, and he is a professor at Northwestern University. He is the co-founder and former artistic director of Teatro Vista and has directed and performed on stage throughout the country as well as in television and fi lms. DePaul.edu José Padilla joined the nation's largest Catholic university as its vice president and general counsel in May 2005. He works closely with DePaul's president, board of trustees, provost, executive vice president and other offi cers and directs an offi ce of seven attorneys providing tactical and strategic counsel on various legal issues. AMALIA PALLARES, Professor and Director Entity: Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago Website: https:// lals.uic.edu/ Amalia Pallares is professor of political science and Latin American and Latino studies and Director of the LALS Program at UIC. She studies social movements, ethnicity and race in Latin America and in the U.S, focusing on the relationship between political activism and identity formation among newly politicized groups. In 2009 he became executive director and has assisted in the artistic and fi nancial growth of the company from a $300,000 annual budget to $1 million in 2015. The company's outreach programs now serve 26,000 students. JENNIFER L. A nationally recognized leader in legal education, she brings a wealth of experience as an administrator, a longtime advocate of active learning and professionalism, and a scholar. She is one of a small number of Latina law school deans nationwide. HUGO TERUEL, Director Entity: Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services program at UIC Website: https://lares.uic.edu Hugo Teruel directs the LARES program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, which offers academic advising, fi nancial aid and education assistance to Latinx students in high school and college. Teruel has been an advocate for Latino access to higher education for decades, taking on a range of roles across academia. JOSÉ M. TORRES, Ph.D., President Entity: Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Website: www. imsa.edu José Torres became president of IMSA in 2014 after six years as superintendent of Elgin School District U-46. He has been recognized for his leadership in educational equity and excellence and his expertise on closing achievement gaps for English language learners.
