He has taken an active role in service and worked closely with many organizations and civic associations. He has represented the 40th district in the Illinois General Assembly since 2013. RepArroyo.com Profi le: Luis Arroyo was appointed to the state House in December 2006. He is the chairman of the appropriations committee for public safety and serves on several others. He owned Arroyo's Restaurant and has worked as a toll collector, bricklayer, foreman, and project administrator for the Chicago Department of Water Management. Originally from Texas, John grew up in Machesney Park. He has worked in law enforcement in South Beloit and Rockford and served as a Winnebago County Board member for District 8. He works part-time for Stewart & Associates and serves on fi ve legislative committees. He chairs the Health and Environmental Protection Committee and sits on several others. Cardenas served in the U.S. Navy and went on to work for Fortune 500 companies before joining government, where his priorities include education, crime and economic development. As a full-time legislator, he also serves as chairman of House education and appropriations committees. Before the legislature, Crespo volunteered on the Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission and Plan Commission, and he later served as a village trustee. WILLIAM DELGADO, State Senator (2nd) Entity: Illinois General Assembly Website: www. senatordelgado. com William "Willie" Delgado has represented the 2nd Senate district since 2006. Before that he served seven years in the House and as a Latino liaison for former AG Roland Burris and gubernatorial candidate Dawn Clark Netsch. Delgado chairs the Senate Education Committee and is a member of the Human Services and Appropriations Committees. ELIZABETH "LISA" HERNANDEZ, State Representative (24th) Entity: Illinois General Assembly Website: www. StateRepHernandez.com Elizabeth "Lisa" Hernandez, a long-time community activist, is serving her fourth term representing the 24th District. Before her election, Hernandez spent 17 years in Cicero Public Schools, where she managed the district's multi-million dollar educational grants offi ce, and she later worked for former Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn as a senior policy advisor. RAYMOND LOPEZ, Alderman (15) Entity: Website: Raymond Lopez got his start at 18 as a precinct captain for Congressman Dan Lipinski. He later served on the Kennedy High School Local School Council and in 2011 he forced a runoff with incumbent Alderman Toni Foulkes before becoming a Democratic committeeman. He won his seat in the City Council in 2015. ROBERTO MALDONADO, Alderman (26th) Entity: City of Chicago Website: www. robertomaldonado. com In 1994 Roberto Maldonado became the fourth-ever Latino elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners, where he served for 15 years before being appointed Alderman of the 26th ward. On the council, he is vice chair of the Committee on Workforce Development and Audit and a member of several others. JOE MORENO, Alderman (1st) Entity: City of Chicago Website: www. aldermanmoreno. com Joe Moreno became an alderman in March 2010, and he has focused on simplifying bureaucracy and expanding opportunity by passing progressive policies such as the Transit Oriented Development ordinance, to enhance the local economy and increase affordable housing, and the Plastic Bag Ban ordinance, to protect the environment. RICARDO MUÑOZ, Alderman (22nd) Entity: City of Chicago Website: www. munoz22.com Only 27 years-old when he joined the City Council as its youngest member, Ricardo Muñoz has become a dominant voice for reform in Chicago politics, battling corruption. In Little Village he is known as a committed public servant, twice declining Council pay increases and instead giving more than $90,000 to charitable organizations. His legislative priorities have always been crime prevention and ensuring that weapons stay off the streets and out of neighborhoods. He is a co-founder of the Latino Caucus, a bicameral group of legislators in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. ARIEL E. REBOYRAS, 30th Ward Alderman Entity: Chicago City Council Website: www. reboyras.com riel Reboyras began his career as a Chicago Public Schools teacher at Roberto Clemente High School. He later fi lled a variety of roles with the City of Chicago, including truck driver, equipment dispatcher, equipment coordinator for the Water Department, and deputy commissioner for the Department of General Services. He was sworn in as alderman of the 30th ward in 2003. (And make sure to delete the word "profi le" from the beginning to match everyone else's.) MARTIN SANDOVAL, State Senator (93rd) Entity: Illinois General Assembly Website: www. SenatorMartin Sandoval.com Martin Sandoval was sworn into offi ce in 2003 in the newly created 11th Legislative District. He became one of four Latinos to be elected to the Illinois Senate for the 93rd General Assembly. He chairs the Transportation Committee, is vice chairman of the Local Government Committee and is a member of two additional committees. MILAGROS "MILLY" SANTIAGO, Alderman (31st) Entity: City of Chicago Website: www. CityofChicago.org Milagros "Milly" Santiago was a U.S. Army reservist, a reporter and anchor for Telemundo and Univision, and a member of the governor's offi ce press team before becoming the second-ever Latina elected to the City Council. She has been very involved with issues that empower women and has served on various boards. DANNY SOLIS, Alderman (25th) Entity: City of Chicago Website: www. ward25.com In 1996 Danny Solís was appointed alderman of the 25th ward, where he has served ever since. He has received special City Council appointments and as the past elected Chair of the Chicago City Council Latino Caucus, his experience enables him to promote strong representation of the Hispanic community with the council and mayor.
