Stam The power of pornography is destroying many lives. Many women have seen the In- ternet destroy a wonderful marriage. Most men who view sex on television and the In- ternet often become addicted. Their person- ality changes. They often lose interest in real love with their wife and become abu- sive. Among those who view pornography the divorce rate increases and there is of- ten sexual abuse directed at their wife and small children. The chat room on the Internet can be a dangerous place. One wife tells about her husband down loading pictures of small girls being sexually molested. Thousands of women have made chilling discoveries of their husband viewing this shameful per- verted and addictive sexual material on the T V satellite and Internet. Our society, with the help of the media and a silent pulpit on sin, has come to be- lieve porn is not evil. Porn is one of the most evil sins today. Last year over 2 bil- lion porn websites were reported. Our children watch it on their phones. 90 per- cent of all boys and 60 percent of all girls have watched porn by age 18. Eighty-eight percent of all internet porn contains vio- lence against women. Sadly, about 30 per- cent of women watch porn. The church, schools and family all need to join in the fight to keep our minds free of pornography pollution. porn is a multi-bil- lion-dollar industry. The church needs to speak and teach about this evil invader of the home. These addicts need to seek help. "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. "But we have this treasure in earthen ves- sels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us" (II Cor. 4:6,7). Any instructed Christian reading this passage from the pen of the Apostle Paul naturally goes back in his mind to the time when God first said: "Let there be light," and dispelled the darkness of the primeval world. He might also recall the incident relat- ed in the book of Judges, when Gideon's ar- my went to battle against the Midianites, each man with a sword in one hand, and a lamp hidden within a pitcher in the other. At Gideon's command the soldiers broke the earthen vessels and the lights shone out to strike terror into the hearts of the enemy, who could not account for the crash and the blaze of light at this midnight hour. For every believer God has caused light, wonderful light, to shine out of the darkness and fill the heart, just as once He said to the dark and chaotic earth: "Let there be light — and there was light." But we believers have come into "the light of the knowledge of the glory of God" by coming to know Christ. Our Lord rightly said: "No man cometh unto the Father but by Me" ( John 14:6). God is unknown and unknowable apart from Christ, who is God manifested in the flesh. It was He who lived a perfect life and then died a sinner's death in order to bring us into relationship and fel- lowship with God. Continued on page 2 Last week I joined the great number of arm chair geniuses who had the answer to the school shootings. I was surprised to read and hear from many people who feel like I did about teaching to love one anoth- er instead of so much hatred. Agree or dis- agree America sure needs to listen up and come to conclusive way to combat the possi- bility of more violence against our children. Leaving this subject I would like to move on to another subject that is bothering me. Do you go to church? If so, do you support your church? There are many ways to support your church and the first is through your offerings of mon- ey. It takes all of us giving to operate to the level that God needs us to do His business. Do you have a talent or a skill which can be used during a worship service? If so do you use it? Not all can sing and not all of us will have a testimony but when asked to do something we should be willing to give our best. When in public can people see the love of God in your life? This is an area that ev- ery Christian should put forth. Be as cheer- ful as possible and smile once in awhile be- cause it causes others to want happiness in their lives as well. The Bible says there will always be poor people in the world and if we have the means to help them we should. This is another way of giving to God because the poor can be His children as well as you and I. There are many organizations that help poor people, so if you are unsure how you can help, these organizations can always use your financial help. Help unload the food trucks or volun- teer for a day or so helping out with any- thing that needs done. Last thing on my mind as I write this is prudence with your finances. Mission Statement for 2018 —New Beginnings: What would Jesus do? We will strive to be more like Jesus in all that we do. "He that hath my com- mandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will mani- fest myself to him" (St. John 14:21). Joseph Roman, Pastor Clara Walls, Reporter hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my ad- dress. I will have gone into the presence of God" —Bil- ly Graham. I know that when he went to heaven he heard these words—His Lord said unto him, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee rul- er over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord" (Matthew 25:21). Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love because every- one is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Terry Beadles, Pastor Kathy Henderson, Re- porter study 6:30 p.m. My hope and prayer for all people who read this is that you will make a decision to confess the past, repent from your sins and accept Je- sus as this Savior and Lord.
