C-2 Church Wednesday, November 15, 2017 The Press-Dispatch Baptist Baptist Continued in next column "One reason a dog can be such a comfort when you're feeling blue is that he doesn't try to find out why"—Unknown. This week PAWS is featuring and exuber- ant young gal named El- lie, who has only lived at PAWS a short time, but her attractive appearance and enthusiastic person- ality is quickly making her a favorite of volun- teers. Ellie appears to have English Pointer heritage and has all the qualities of a scenthound. She has hazel eyes, drop ears, a soft, smooth coat of tan and white fur with ticking throughout and would thrive with an ac- tive individual or family in a rural setting, as she has great endurance. To adopt this spirited gal, call 812-354-9894. PAWS WEEK PAWS WEEK Pet of the ELLIE Continued from page 1 Continued on page 3 1947 E. Everyone was very blessed and asks that our community keep those that they encountered, as well as others spending their winter without shelter, in your prayers. One of the women named Regina had a sign that read, "I am not perfect, just home- less, but I am still God's child." Remember Regina in your prayers. She blessed our group greatly and spread some joy to us as well. What a great reminder that each of us are God's children, the rich and the poor as well. He loves us all equally and gave each of us different stories and paths that can all lead to the same heavenly home. A home far better than what we may or may not have here on Earth. On November 24, God's Little People, ages 3-11, will travel to Jasper 8 theater to watch a Christmas movie. November 26 will be the unveiling of Mt. Olive's new fellowship area. We will fel- lowship in the new area with a Thanksgiving carry-in style dinner. As December approach- es, Mt. Olive Outreach Team will be participating in Christmas parades and The God Squad will be hold- ing an "Open Air Christmas Market" in Winslow. This will be a vendor-style event complete with hot chocolate, hot apple cider and Christ- mas music. The event will be in Winslow on December 9. More information regarding these events will be included very soon. Helping others Know Christ, Grow in Christ and Go Forth to Serve Christ. All the masterpieces of a painting contain both light and shadow. By then the artist highlights certain features of his subject, and they provide contrast and harmony to reveal beauty or character. A happy life is not one filled only with sun- shine, but one that uses both light and shadow to produce beauty. Suffering persecution can become a blessing because they can form a dark back- drop for the radiance of the Christian life. The greatest musican as a rule are those who know how to bring song out of sadness. Fanny Cros- by, her spirit aglow with her faith in Christ, saw more with her sightless eyes than most of us do with normal vision. She gave us some of the great gospel songs that cheer our hearts and lives. Don't despise the shad- ows God brings into your lives. He can use them to produce a masterpiece. Just as Paul and Silas were jailed in Philippi, their persecution and suffering led to the con- version of the heathen pris- on warden and his family. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. I'm sure you will leave feel- ing blessed. May God bless each and every one. "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whore- mongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoev- er loveth and maketh a lie" (Revelation 22:14-15, K JV ). God's love is freely given. We don't deserve it and we can't earn it. Learn to trust God fully and watch Him work. "I will lift up mine eyes un- to the hills, from whence co- meth my help. My help co- meth from the Lord, which made heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:1-2 K JV ). Remember to pray for those on the prayer list and also remember "Jesus is a way maker. He can make a way when you don't see a way." Have a safe week. Dale Frederick, Pastor Lois K. Fowler, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. CHURCH 600 E. Thought for the week: No matter how many steps you have walked away from God—Remember it only takes one step to come back to him. Be in prayer this week for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. "Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour" (Matthew 25:13). Many of us have put off doing something be- cause we think we are too busy. We've all said, "I'll do it later when I have time." Unfortunately, too many of us apply this attitude to our Faith. Jesus' call is ur- gent, in the here and now, in your current circumstances.
