David Lemon-Thompson, of 514 Vance Street, Wash- ington, was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and domestic battery following a fight be- tween him and another em- ployee, with whom he was romantically involved, ac- cording to the report. Workers at McDonald's called 911 to report yelling and a fight that was disrupt- ing the drive-thru speak- ers at the restaurant. Both Wright and the Pike Coun- ty EMS responded to the scene, with Wright arriving first to see David sitting by the dumpster. Wright placed him in handcuffs, noticing a small open cut on David's knuckles. EMS arrived and also found injuries Jerri Lynn Wheatley, of 13177 E. Park- er Lake Road, Monroe City. She was treated for blood on her nose after she ex- ited the employee door of McDonald's. David and Jer- ri both admitted to have been drinking and submit- ted to a Portable Breath Test (PBT), which indicat- ed .112 and .063 BAC re- spectively. Both employees had been called to work to assist since the restaurant was short-staffed. David denied headbutting Jerri, but then admitted it was possible he had acciden- tally headbutted, her accord- ing to the report. David was informed of his Miranda rights and ad- mitted to drinking and de- scribed himself as an alco- holic. He said the argument began over a work issue in which he felt disrespect- ed by Jerri. He reportedly raised his voice and began shouting obscenities at Jerri to a level others were sure to overhear. Jerri's account of the incident was almost iden- tical to that of the 911 caller. Two arrested for never having drivers license By James Capozella Pike County Deputy Ja- son McKinney made two separate arrests on Novem- ber 11 and 12 for operators having never received a driv- er's license while patrolling SR 57 this past weekend. On Saturday, Novem- ber 11, around 5:19 p.m., McKinney observed a Hon- da passenger car drive left of center, stopping the ve- hicle at State Route 57 and Lake Minnis Drive. Joel Enrique Portillo Rivera, of 625 SW First St., Washing- ton, reported he had no li- cense, registration or proof of insurance, but provided a passport from El Salvador. Rivera was arrested and his vehicle was towed. A passen- ger was taken to Casey's to wait for a ride. McKinney was assisted by Petersburg Officer Scott Wright. On Sunday, November 12, around 3:21 a.m., McK- inney was southbound on SR 57, near IPL, when he ob- served a vehicle northbound with one working headlight. A Dodge Durango, driven by Prentice Edward Nail, of 913 E. Main St., Washington, was stopped at the Daviess County line, where Nail pro- vided an Indiana identifica- tion card. The report stated Nail knew he could not drive without a license but said he was going to Walmart. Dis- patch reported that he had never received a valid driv- er's license. McKinney asked the pas- senger, Carrie Grubbs, of 404 E. Main St., Washing- ton, if she had a valid driv- er's license, and she said it was suspended and that she had been drinking. Nail was placed in handcuffs after testing 0.00 BAC on a PBT and charged with operator never licensed. Grubbs was taken to the Pike County Se- curity Center until someone could pick her up. ments," Ambre wrote. "The estimated payment for March is $20,527 and for April through June the pay- ment estimate is $28,347 each month using the actu- al September 15, 2017, ADM count of 58." "We will update the pay- ment estimates for Hon- ors and Career and Techni- cal Education counts in De- cember," Ambre wrote. "In February, we will update payments estimates again when we load Special Edu- cation counts. Additionally, the estimated payments do not reflect any plus or minus adjustment that may be ap- plicable to your school dis- trict." Michelle Durcholz, chair of the Otwell Miller Acad- emy Board of Directors' fi- nance subcommittee, said that the funding recalcula- tion was not a surprise. "We knew this is coming," Durcholz said during the regular monthly meeting of the Otwell Miller Academy Board of Directors on Mon- day, Nov. 13. "It's not any- thing new to the board. It's just a matter of it's now hap- pening." Durcholz noted the school had been utilizing state tu- ition support in July, Au- gust, September and Octo- ber based on its actual ADM count, rather than the pre- enrollment count of 120. She also said that the state had given Otwell Mill- er Academy the option of returning $ 64,515.67 of the overpayment of basic and complexity grant funding if the school wished to return to a normal payment sched- ule starting in January. "In my opinion, I don't see the need for that, because we've already known this was coming and we've been only using our ADM accord- ing to our budget, you know, monthly," Durcholz said. "So it seems kind of silly to me to return money only for them to basically turn back around and give it to us, in a monthly format." Durcholz also told the board that the finance sub- committee – comprised of Durcholz and board mem- bers Lou Fort and Valer- ie Schoppenhorst – had re- viewed profit and loss state- ments for the months of July, August and September dur- ing a meeting held on Tues- day, Nov. 7. "They were reviewed at the finance meeting, which was last Tuesday, and no is- sues were brought about," Durcholz said. "Of course, they were supplied to the board and everyone, and nobody expressed any con- cerns." According to the profit and loss statement for Sep- tember, Otwell Miller Acad- emy had total income of $28,387.82 and total expens- es of $ 67,987.87 – a net oper- ating loss of $ 39,600.95. In addition, according to the same profit and loss statement, Otwell Miller Academy had total income of $ 87,646.89 and total ex- penses of $ 88,156.31 in Ju- ly, August and September – a net operating loss of $509.42. By Andy Heuring Three people were in- jured in a three-vehicle ac- cident on Main St., Otwell, at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. The crash occurred as a gray van, driven by Roxan- na Kingery, 34, of Martins- ville, Ill., was driving south on 257 and went straight off the highway onto CR 200 N. at the same time as Taylor Skelton, 18, of Otwell, was driving north on Highway 257 and attempted to go straight onto CR 1000 E. According to Pike Coun- ty Deputy Paul Collier, Skel- ton hit Kingery in the pas- senger side door. The im- pact caused Kingery's van to spin sideways and roll onto its side. It collided with the front a Ford Focus, be- ing driven by Carol A. Mi- ley, 53, of Petersburg. Miley was stopped on CR 200 N. at the stop sign headed west. Deputy Collier said both Skelton and her juvenile sis- ter were taken by ambulance to the hospital. Kingery was also taken to the hospital. He said she told him she was knocked out and didn't remember what happened. Miley was uninjured. Three hurt in three-vehicle crash a day book that contained a white powder police identi- fied as meth. "She kept looking at Strombald and saying 'I'm sorry,'" according to the af- fidavit. It also stated Strombald said he purchased meth from Heather when he was in Winslow. Roach and Byers claimed they didn't know anything about the meth. Police then obtained a search warrant for the house at 411 N. Main St. in Win- slow. According to the affidavit, police entered the house and found Nowark and Jones. During a search of Nowark and Jones for weapons, Pike County Deputy Paul Collier found a hypodermic needle with a clear liquid in it, be- lieved to be meth. They also found on Jones a black bottle containing a white powder, suspected of being meth. During a search of the house, police said they found several plastic bags with the corners cut out of them, a white powder resi- due on a desk and multiple straws that had been cut in half with the ends burned, a glass smoking pipe and spoons next to a bed with a clear hardened residue on them. Jones and Nowark were taken into custody. FALSE LICENSE PLATE LEADS TO SECOND METH ARREST On Friday morning, a Washington man, his girl- friend and three others were arrested after police stopped the car he was rid- ing in for having an improp- er license plate. Marcus J. Henson, of 703 W. Walnut St., Washington, was arrested on a charge of dealing in methamphet- amine, a level 3 felony, pos- session of meth, a level 5 fel- ony, and possession of mar- ijuana. Nicole Duke, 19, of 800 N. Liberty Apts., Apt. 311, Petersburg, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphet- amine, possession of par- aphernalia, possession of marijuana, trafficking drugs into a jail and maintaining a common nuisance. Gage Douglas Fiscus, 21, of 108 Dewey St., Otwell, and Kyle D. Robling, 19, of 1799 E. CR 550 S., Winslow, were arrested on prelimi- nary charges of possession of methamphetamine, pos- session of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance. Tracey J. Yarbrough, 40, of 1309 Washington Ave., Vincennes, was arrested on charges of habitual traffic violator and possession of marijuana. According to Petersburg Police Cpl. Jared Simmons, he saw a Jeep drive from Mo- na St. to Highway 61 and ran the license plate, which came back to a Ford Rang- er. He stopped the vehicle at about 12:30 a.m. Cpl. Sim- mons said when approached the vehicle to talk with Yar- brough, who was driving, he noticed the odor of raw mar- ijuana. Yarbrough told Sim- mons he knew he was a ha- bitual traffic violator. Cpl. Simmons asked about the marijuana smell and was told neither Yarbrough nor is passenger, Marcus Hen- son, had any marijuana. During a pat down of Hen- son, police found two plas- tic bags in Henson's pant leg, one had marijuana and the other a crystal substance that field tested positive for meth, weighing seven grams. According to Simmons' report, Henson said he had been smoking meth with his girlfriend, Nicole Duke, at her apartment. Police said they also found a set of digital scales and two glass smoking de- vices that tested positive for meth in the backseat. Yarbrough told police he was just giving Henson a ride to Petersburg and didn't go into the apartment. Police found a small bag of marijua- na in his pocket. Both were taken into cus- tody. They also obtained a search warrant for Duke's apartment. Cpl. Simmons said Petersburg Police Chief Chuck Baumgart and Pike County Deputy Sheriff Ja- son McKinney went with him to the apartment at 2:21 a.m. Duke answered the door and they located Fiscus and Robling in the apartment. During a search, they found a baggie of marijuana in Fiscus' pant pocket, and a small bag of meth. In the bedroom, where they found Fiscus and Robling, police discovered a glass smok- ing device on the bed and burned residue that field tested positive for meth. They also found two mari- juana cigarettes in a closet. According to Simmons' re- port, all three said they had been smoking meth and marijuana. Roxanna Kingery, 34 of Martinsville, Illinois was injured when she was hit in the side as she drove from Highway 257 in Otwell onto CR200N toward Jasper at about 3:30 p.m Monday. Taylor Skelton, 18, and her juvenile sister were injured when the Ford Es- cape collided with Kingery's minivan Monday afternoon at intersection of County Roads 1000E, 200N and Highway 257 in Otwell.
