May 24 ..... 8 days Graduation ............... May 27 ... 11 days INFORMATION OF INTEREST • Senior students are be- ing asked to provide pic- tures for use in the grad- uation ceremony in May. Each senior should bring one senior picture and one baby shot to Ms. Nossett as soon as possible. Stu- dent names should be pro- vided on the back of the re- spective picture. • Through a grant from Alcoa, Ivy Tech is offering an opportunity for high school students who are ju- niors and seniors to earn up to six college credits during the summer at no cost. To learn more about this opportunity visit this link: https://www.ivytech. edu/southwest/17903.ht- ml. • The high school gym- nasium will be closed to all activities beginning Mon- day, May 22 through grad- uation. This is to allow for preparations for the 2017 graduation ceremony to be conducted effectively. • The Riley Dance Mar- athon has been canceled for this year due to sched- uling conflicts with other events. • Wood Memorial High School is planning on launching a Bass Fishing Team in the fall. A coach has been identified and we would like to now gain in- put on those students who may be interested in tak- ing part in the program. If you are interested, please stop by the high school of- fice and give us your name. An organizational meeting will be held after the start of the 2017-2018 school year. SENIOR HONORS NIGHT PROGRAM Senior Honors Night was a very special evening, with a number of students honored with academic awards, as well as schol- arships for the continua- tion of their educational careers. With the Dollars For Scholars organization awarding over $40,000 of scholarship money and taking into account the scholarships awarded by colleges and univer - sities (Murray State, In- diana State, Vincennes, Ivy Tech, Oakland City, and more) it is estimated that Wood Memorial stu- dents earned more than $210,000 in scholarships this year. This is outstand- ing and is truly representa- tive of the wonderful work our senior students have put forth throughout their high school career. SENIOR PRIDE SPRUCE UP More than 50 members of the senior class took part in our May 12 Se- nior Pride Day, focusing on sprucing up the Wood Memorial High School campus in preparation of the May 27 graduation ceremony. These individ- uals did a great job in ac- complishing a number of tasks, which included painting walls, railings and preparing hallways for en- hancements next fall. Stu- dents enjoyed burgers and hot dogs at the conclusion of the work day. I appreci- ate everyone's willingness to give back to the school and those students return- ing in 2017 – 2018.
