B-10 Local Wednesday, May 17, 2017 The Press-Dispatch By Stephanie Rawlins The Pike County Public Library system has hired a library consulting company to assist in the development of a Strategic Plan that will also address the long-term, high-level facility needs for the Pike County Public Li- brary system. "The Strategic Plan will serve as a road map to the future of the library, with specific goals and ob- jectives to serve the system for the next five years," said Pike County Library Direc- tor Stephanie Rawlins. Residents served by the Pike County Public Library system will have an oppor- tunity to participate in pub- lic forums this week to as- sist with the planning ef- forts. "The forums provide an opportunity to obtain feedback about important issues in the library," said Rawlins. The forums will be at: Otwell Branch Library: Thursday, May 18 from 9:30 - 10 :30 a.m. Winslow Branch Library: Thursday, May 18 from 4:15 - 5:15 p.m. Petersburg Branch Li- brary: Thursday, May 18 from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. "If you are unable to at- tend an open forum, the li- brary is working with the consulting company to de- velop a short survey for the public to discuss current and future issues facing our sys- tem," said Rawlins. The survey will be avail- able online and on paper at the libraries beginning Mon- day, May 22. There will be a link on the Pike County Pub- lic Library website once it is ready. "For this process to be successful, we need engage- ment from the public. Your opinion matters and will pro- vide the system with useful information as we begin the process of planning for our future services and needs. We want to continue to thrive in this environment of constant change. With shift- ing demographics, newer and better technologies, as well as increasing real and virtual competition, the Pike County Public Library needs to be prepared to move for- ward. We can only do this with your help," said Rawl- ins. "All of the gathered in- formation will be used to develop strategies that will successfully guide the Pike County Public Library sys- tem into the future, in addi- tion to further mapping out the best approach to facili- ties within Pike County for the longer term. The Strate- gic Plan will assist the Pike County Public Library sys- tem in working on process- es that will keep the plan liv- ing, breathing and updated throughout its five-year life- time," said Rawlins.
