This year Pike County Community Foundation granted nearly $40,000, the greatest amount in any one grant cycle since the foundations inception in 1998. This money came from the Friends of Pike County fund, the Grassroots Unrestricted fund, the Wayne and Charlotte Malotte fund, and the David DeTar Corn Trust. The Friends of Pike County and the Grassroots funds are ever-growing funds, receiving many contributions from the community and beyond all year round. "No amount is too small or too large," said Cindy Gaskins, volunteer director. All 32 PCCF funds, many of which are scholarship funds, are endowed, meaning that the distributions come from interest earned. The principal remains invested forever, thus the motto "For Good, Forever." All funds serve to benefit Pike County. "One of the most rewarding aspects of serving on the Pike County Community Foundation board is the annual presentation of grant money, made possible by donations from Pike County residents past and present," Donna Dyer, board of directors.
