A-8 The Press-Dispatch Wednesday, November 20, 2013 Lane arrested on preliminary charge of public intoxication A Newburgh man was arrested early Tuesday, November 12, at 1:34 a.m., after police received a call he had been on a resident's porch and his vehicle was then parked partially in a ditch off Luker Lane, near Stendal. Christopher Henzman, 29, of 8366 Heather Dr. Newburgh, arrested on at preliminary charge of public intoxication by Pike County Deputy Jeremy Boger. Deputy Boger said he got a call from DeWayne Jones, of 10610 S. Luker Lane. Jones told police a man was in a truck parked on Luker Lane. Jones also said his uncle had seen the man on Jones' porch earlier. Deputy Boger said he went to Luker Lane and found Henzman in a truck parked partially in the ditch. Deputy Boger said Henzman's speech was slurred. Henzman said his father was on his way to pick him up. Boger said Henzman originally told them he had started drinking in Newburgh before he drove there, but later changed his story and said he began to drink after he parked the truck. Boger said when he asked Henzman why he was on Jones' porch, he said he reason was "embarrassing" and he didn't want to tell them. He was taken to the Pike County Jail, where he was preliminarily charged with public intoxication. H Donnelly 'all in' on energy Continued from page 5 "It's the heart and soul of Indiana," Donnelly said. "It's a community that is family-oriented, value-oriented, and I'm very excited about being here and being with everybody. "During the election year, everybody in Pike County was so kind to me," Donnelly added. "I was here a number of times, and I feel very privileged to be back." Also in attendance at the event were two individuals who are Democratic candidates for statewide office in 2014: Mike Claytor, who will be seeking the office of Indiana State Auditor, and Beth White, who will be seeking the office of Indiana Secretary of State. "We've got Mike Claytor, we've got Beth White, who are running from one end of the state to the other, and we're so grateful for your effort," Donnelly said. "We've got wonderful candidates for State House and State Senate, for county offices. Together we can do this. "I'm incredibly fortunate and incredibly lucky," Donnelly added. "I want to thank all of you and I want you to know I'll knock on doors with you, I'll walk the streets with you, I'll do everything I can to help this party to continue to grow and to continue to have success." Hume, who is retiring when his term ends next year, introduced Larry Vollmer, a county commissioner from Dubois County who will be seeking the post. "I always have been one who 9,000 iN totAl diSCouNtS $ up to oN SeleCt NeW vehiCleS Soup supper at Lockhart Twp. FD has reached across the aisle, to the other side, to work with them, to get things done that need to be done," said Hume, who noted that he has been in the minority party 38 of the 40 years he has served in the Indiana General Assembly. "I know that Larry Vollmer is exactly that way. He's been able to work with both parties and get things done, and I think that's a very important aspect in serving in the state legislature," Hume added. "And that's why I can wholeheartedly endorse Larry Vollmer." Vollmer said that he would be glad to follow in Hume's footsteps. "I work across party lines," Vollmer said. "We do that as commissioners. We have very few issues we cannot get resolved. "As I've told the other commissioners, election time, you run with your party," Vollmer added. "When election's over, it's time to go to work for the people and you forget about party." The Pike County Democratic Party's annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, which was originally set to be at the First United Methodist Church in Petersburg, was moved to the Coleman Stewart VFW Post 3578. "This turned out to be a really nice place to have this dinner," Hume said. "It's an excellent set up, and the food was delicious. "Twyla," Hume added, directing his comment to Pike County Democratic Party treasurer Twyla Flint, "God works in mysterious ways, doesn't He?" The Lockhart Township Fire Department had a soup supper fundraiser on Saturday, November 9.
