Victoria was born December 22, 1977 in Rutherford County to the late Hunter Vance Greene, Jr. and Theresa Conner Greene. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and Isothermal Community College. Victoria worked for Manual Woodworkers and was of the Baptist faith. Those left to treasure her memory are her hus- band, Thomas "Scott" Green; daughter, Hunter Jacobs (Anthony Johnson, Jr.) of Ellenboro; son, Edward Jacobs of Blacksburg, SC; one grandson, sister, Heidi Lynch Ingle (Jeffrey) of Forest City and her beloved nephews and niece. A memorial service will be held December 16 at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Rev. Chad Sisk officiating. The family will receive friends in the church foyer immediate- ly following the service. Sheila Glover Johnson Sheila Glover Johnson, age 71, of Henrietta, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023. Sheila was born October 14, 1952 in Rutherford County to the late Johnny Gosey and Blanch Vernell Lowery Gosey. She drove a bus for Rutherford County Transit System. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Gosey. Survivors include her husband, Michael Johnson; sons, Steven Keeter (Haley) of Ellenboro, Christopher Keeter (Ronna) of Statesville; daughter, Sabrina Camp (Scott) of Macon, GA; grand- children, Ansley Camp, Josh Keeter (Hannah), Morgan Keeter and a great grand- son, Briggs Keeter and spe- cial friends the Ballesteros family, the Wease family and Steve Smart. Roger McClain, Jr., Roger McClain, Jr., son of Angela Murphy and Roger McClain, Sr., passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023. He is survived by his sister, Shiree Byrd; broth- ers, Malik Bowen, Brandon Gordon, Jorden McCormick, Micheal Hensley, and Justin McClain; four nieces and two nephews. He is grandson of Lorene Frazier, Judith McClain (deceased), Charles Bowen, Sr. (deceased); two aunts and three uncles. Teresa Diane Laircey Teresa Diane Laircey, 56, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, November 30, 2023. She was born to the late Dramon Laircey and Addie Mae Gibson Laircey in Gaston County. She is also prede- ceased by sisters, Brenda and Cindy; brother, Danny; nephew, Bubba. Left behind to cherish her memories are her daugh- ter, Ashley Funderburk; two grandsons, sisters, Cathy, Bertha, and JoAnn; brothers, Tony, Jeffery, and Shane; aunt, Nancy; several nieces and nephews. Nell Reid Scruggs Nell Reid Scruggs, age 96 of Forest City died Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Nell was born April 1, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Lee Reid and Zennie Toney Reid. She lived all her life in the home she was born in and where she raised her own family. She was a member of Tanners Grove Church and a graduate of Harris High School. Nell was a homemaker and farmer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Scruggs who died in 2003 and infant granddaugh- ter, Jamie Leigh Owens in 1982. Survivors include her daughter, Becky Scruggs Leach and husband Roy of Forest City, two grandchil- dren, five grandchildren and one great-great-grand- child. A service from the graveside was held December 11 at Tanners Grove Community Church Cemetery with Rev. Eric Yelton officiating. Lavender, age 84, of Ellenboro, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Barbara was born June 24, 1934 in Catawba County, to the late John William Carswell and Ethel Bright Carswell. She was a graduate of Hildebran High School. Barbara worked as a seamstress for various rug and clothing manufacturing companies for most her life. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clarence "Brint" Lavender; brother, Harold Carswell and sister, Judy Bailey. Those left to treasure her memory include her son, Dale Lavender and wife, Donna of Shelby; brother, Ed Carswell and wife, Amy of Shelby; sister, Janice Turner of Cliffside and four grandchildren. Sarah was born March 29, 1952 in Rutherford County to the late Herbert Womack and Irene Ramsey Womack. She was a gradu- ate of Chesnee High School and was of the Baptist Faith. Her passion in life was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Womack. Those left to treasure her memory include her hus- band of 48 years, Kenneth Alexander; son, Kenny Alexander (Kelly) of Forest City; two granddaughters and a sister, Betty Bailey of Forest City. Douglas Farrell Laughlin Douglas Farrell Laughlin, 86, passed away Wednesday, December 06, 2023. He was born to the late J.T. Laughlin and Luesenior Champion Laughlin in Cleveland County. He is also predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Betty Canipe Laughlin; son, Mike Chapman; brother, Ronnie Laughlin. Left to cherish his memories are his son, Scott Chapman; former daughter- in-law, Debbie Chapman; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, broth- ers, Terry Laughlin (Pam) and Freddie Laughlin; sis- ters, Martha Fortenberry, Brenda Garver, Teresa Hovis and Trina Whitaker (Gary). He worked at Cleveland Mills for 42 years and Laughlin Furniture for 18 years. He served 20 years as a Lawndale Town Councilman. He was born February 22, 1941 in Charlotte to the late James Andrew Horton and the late Katherine Nash Horton. James was a US Air Force veteran and retired from Duke Power after 33 years. James is survived by his wife Glenda Horton, two grandsons, his step son Barry Brindle. In addition to his par- ents, James was preceded in death by his son Brian Scott Horton, his brother Kenneth Horton, his step son Erik Stephen Horton. At the request of James there will be no services held and the family asks that in his memory that you be more kind to those that you come in contact with because the world needs more kindness.
