Monuments of Distinction 704-481-1198 www.riverhillmonuments.com Family Owned & Operated Since 1957 ©Community First Media Community First Media There is no doubt that we live in a noisy and hectic world. All one would have to do is take a trip to a local market or supercenter to experience the proof. It seems that with each new introduction of technology comes less time for privacy and refl ection. There is literally no where a person can go that the "information age" has not invaded. We just don't have anywhere or any time to think anymore without an invasion of ringtones and advertisers. In order to maintain our self-identity and fi nd soul rest, we must purposefully seek out a place of solitude. Scripture says much about time alone with God and the importance of taking a pause on life. When Jesus dwelt on this earth, he consistently would depart to a solitary place in order to spend time with his heavenly Father. If the Son of God felt the need to step aside from daily responsibilities, how much more should we as mortals see the necessity. We must come apart before we come apart. With all the distractions of everyday life, it is easy to lose the bearing of our soul's, "True North." When we take time to leave the busyness of life and enter into a place of meaningful solitude, we will reconnect with ourselves and ultimately our God. As we open up God's Word and begin to commune with him in prayer, it is like receiving a spiritual IV. The Spirit of God will renew our soul and equip us to face the pressures of life. As fearful as it sounds, we must purposefully unplug from the constant noise of life so that we can hear, "The still small voice of God."
