This month's column is full of good news, I'm happy to report. A few weeks ago, we had the ribbon cutting ceremony for Mission Hospital McDowell's (MHM) new state-of-the-art tower, an expansion that opened late last month. This is an incredible Christmas gift for both the community and everyone who works here. The expansion includes a 12-bed Adult Medical Surgical Unit, as well as two negative pressure rooms. These are specially designed spaces for patients who are being treated for infectious diseases or those who are at high risk for infections, so they can be isolated from other patients and hospital visitors. Our addition also has an amenity that everyone who enters MHM can enjoy — a fresh, beautifully designed main lobby area where patients, their families, and visitors can be seated comfortably and our patients can be registered effi ciently. Another exciting feature of the new tower is that its design incorporates the future healthcare needs of our community. It will allow for the construction of an additional fl oor that can be used for these needs, which remain to be seen and will evolve over time. The gifts that grace the lives of MHM's patients each day are our extraordinary, compassionate caregivers. They are second to none and I want to get the word out that we are currently recruiting RN (Registered Nurse), PCT (Patient Care Technician), and other rewarding roles at the hospital.
