NOTES Continued from page 1 Church Wednesday, October 26, 2022 The Press-Dispatch D-2 POINTS Continued from page 1 saying. So, he explains fur- ther. "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live; And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? " Faith overcomes fear. Je- sus' question, "Do you be- lieve this" is for everyone. He said these words for the ben- efit of the living, the dying, the healthy, and the grieving. His words are a healing salve to cover over our doubts and fears. Jesus goes to Lazarus' tomb and tells them to roll back the stone. People sur- rounding Martha deride and laugh Jesus to shame. The world scoffs at Christians and their belief in eternal life. Despite being surrounded by scoffers, Jesus commands Lazarus to "come forth." Lazarus emerges from the tomb, still wrapped in grave- clothes yet alive. As word of this miracle spreads, multi- tudes came not to see Jesus but to see Lazarus. Many be- lieve because of this miracle. The question is, was the raising of Lazarus the actu- al object of Jesus' words and the display of his power? Or was it a preview of something greater to come? Just a few days after this miracle, Jesus would be dead and laying in a tomb. Three days later, Jesus revives un- assisted and leaves the tomb. The Hebrew writer says that Jesus "sampled" death for everyone. Jesus tells John in Revelation, I [am] He who lives, and was dead, and be- hold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death." Faith in Jesus Christ shields us from death and hell. Our reviving begins when we say yes to Jesus. Through faith, we have al- ready "passed from death unto life." Death has no pow- er over us. What are you celebrating? DIAMOND DOG....The best friend you will ever have. A loy- al loving companion that cares for you more than itself. A special creature whose time in your heart will far outnumber its days on earth. This week PAWS is fea- turing a dynamic young gal named Diamond, who is fun-loving, affectionate, intelligent, a border ter- rier, attractively colored in grizzle and tan course fur and would do best in a home with no other dogs.
