For each sign-up of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, or every completed reading log turned in, your child will be entered into an extra prize drawing. This is a program for children from birth until they start kindergarten to instill a love of reading. Come into either location to sign up your child today and get your first reading log. This program is free and comes with great incentives for your little ones. Classic Book Club will meet to discuss Rommel the Desert Fox by Desmond on Thursday Oct. 13 at the Haubstadt Town Meeting Room at 6:00 p.m. Books & Brews will meet to discuss Sam's Letters to Jennifer by James Patterson on Tuesday Oct. 18 and 6 p.m. Why was the skeleton sad? He had no body to trick-or- treat with. Mark your calen- dars for Friday, Oct. 28th where we will be at the Haub- stadt Trick-or-Treat on Main Street passing out some good treats from 5 to 7 p.m. You can also come by for some Spook-tacular treats at the Fort Branch Halloween Fest on McCreary Street Satur- day, Oct. 29 from 3 to 6 p.m. Sign up for our monthly email newsletter for our segment–Kim's Column. Geri-Fit senior fitness classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30 AM. Kuang returns with Babel, a book that adds a little magic to the Department of Trans- lation at Oxford University. The Oakland City– Columbia Township Public Library has partnered with Mesker Park Zoo recently. Zoo passes are available for checkout to library card hold- ers. A pass allows two adults and up to four children to visit the zoo at no cost. One pass per household may be checked out for three days. The Board of Trustees for the Oakland City — Colum- bia Township Public Library adopted the second Wednes- day of every month at 4 p.m. for their monthly board meet- ings. The meetings are in the Library Meeting Room. Mrs. Boop chose Wyatt Price as Student of the Week. Wyatt is such a hard worker. He' always makes sure his work is finished and puts forth his best effort ee- ry day. He always shows kindness to everyone. Ms. Tichenor nominated Ken- ley Arbuthnot because she is an all-around great student. Kenley works well with her classmates, and has recently enjoyed shar- ing with the class the interesting events that are happening in her independent reading book. Her ef- forts and behavior are appreciated. Ms. Henry chose Ashlinn Fetch- er as Student of the Week. Ash- linn works hard and always tries her best. She is a good listener and is kind to everyone. She is glad to have Ashlinn in her class. Mrs. Garrison answers a question for a student Ol- ivia Moran during the College Go! Week scavenger hunt in the gym. Owensville eighth graders show off their neon colors for College Go! Week. Mrs. Trisha Goodman and Kylee Goodman repre- sent their favorite school for College Go! Week. Mr. Snow chose 6th grad- er Reed Luecke as the Middle School Twig of the Week. Reed al- ways brings positive vibes to So- cial Studies, offers to help class- mates on a consistent basis, and is a great leader in the 6th grade. We are so happy he decided to join the TWIG family this year. Miss Crowell chose Mac Mowrer as the 3-5 Twig of the Week. Mac always goes above and beyond in the classroom. He stays engaged in his work, double checks his an- swers, and takes his time. Mac is a very reliable student who teach- ers can always count on to do the right thing. Ms. Stapleton chose Adalynn Brewer for the K-2 Twig of the Week. She has started the year strong and continues to work hard every day. Adalynn is helpful, re- spectful, and very hardworking. She is such a great role model for the other students because she always follows the rules. Because of her hard work, she has made great progress in first grade and I can't wait to see her grow the rest of the year. We are very lucky to have her in our classroom and are very thankful for everything she does to help not only me, but her peers as well.
