Jerry was born December 14, 1962 in Knoxville, TN to the late Franklin Huskey and Betty Louise Dockery Huskey. He worked for Carolina Trophies in Shelby. In addition to his par- ents, he was preceded in death by a son Cody Huskey, brothers Bill Huskey and Steve Huskey and sister Pamela Huskey. Survivors include his life companion, Sheila Evans of Forest City, sons Joe Allen Huskey and Joshua Huskey both of SC and daughter Summer Ann Huskey of Knoxville, TN; brothers, Rick Huskey of MD and David Huskey of CO and eleven grandchildren. A family directed cele- bration of life will be held on a later date. Paul Steve Grant Paul Steve Grant, 74, native of Cleveland County, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Adelean Fitch Grant; broth- ers, Harvey Grant, Everette Grant, Hazel Grant and Billy Grant; sisters, Mabel Pearson, Ree Hull and Ercie Grant. Steve leaves to cher- ish his memories his wife, Juanita Grant; daughter, Donna Jones; sons, Mike Grant (Misty) and Curtis Lewis (Denise); nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; one sis- ter, Frances Booth; numer- ous nieces and nephews. After serving in the United States Navy he went to work and retired from Doran Mills. Celebration of Life Services were held August 23 at Rutherford Chapel. Charles Howard "Chuck" Griffith Charles Howard "Chuck" Griffith, age 66 of Forest City, passed away September 13, 2022. His parents, Dr. Charles and Clara Dee Banner Griffith. Chuck was born May 10, 1956, in Fayetteville, NC. He was born with Downs Syndrome. Chuck was the oldest of four children. When the family moved to Forest City in 1960, Chuck was embraced by his com- munity and his First United Methodist Church family, where he even enthusias- tically volunteered to wash the dishes on Wednesday nights. Survivors include sis- ters Teresa Griffith Chandler and husband, Ted of Burlington, Dr. Dee Dee Griffith Bright and husband, Matt of Forest City, brother Dr. Scott Griffith and wife, Stacey of Rutherfordton, several nieces and nephews and great-niece and neph- ews. Funeral services were held September 18 at First United Methodist Church of Forest City. Kathy McCraw Cole Kathy McCraw Cole, age 60 of Ellenboro, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022. She was born January 1,1962 in Rutherford County, NC to Pansy Jane Harris McCraw and the late Gary Eugene McCraw, Sr. She was a member of Heaven Bound Baptist Church in Ellenboro. She is survived by husband David Allen Cole, mother Pansy Jane Harris McCraw, daughters; Angela Grace Bradley and Gloria Katelan Bradley, son Jimmy Cole, brother Gary Eugene McCraw, Jr. and wife Angie, sisters; Sheila Holland and husband Matthew and Christie Canipe and hus- band Scott, five grandchil- dren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by son Billy Cole. A memorial service was held September 17 at Heaven Bound Baptist Church in Ellenboro. She was the daughter of the late Clifford Shepherd and Sydna Shepherd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Jeff Wilkie and a sister Jackie Meyers. Gloria was a native of Alexandria, VA. She was a member of Harmon Street Baptist Church. She is also survived by her husband of over 60 years Cecil B. Wilkie they where married on October 16, 1961. James "Butch" Patrick Gurley James "Butch" Patrick Gurley, 75, a long-time resi- dent of Tampa, passed away September 4, 2022. Jim was born April 5, 1947, to Russell and Margaret of Forest City, NC and was a graduate of East Carolina University. He was dedicated to his career with General Motors for more than 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gilda Alvarez Gurley; son, Justin; daughter, Jaime Helms, husband, Josh, two grand- sons, and one granddaugh- ter, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Crawford, and two nieces. Geraldine Horne Geraldine Horne, 79, of Bostic, died Friday, September 16, 2022. She was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Macie Horne. Geraldine is survived by sisters Guynell Green, Joyce Crowder (Hugh) and Linda Roach (Leon), broth- ers John Horne (Sarah), Howard Horne, Van Horne (Sondra), and a number of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. A private service will be held for the family. Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Rutherford Regional Health System (RRHS) is expanding its community partnerships to support Out of the Ashes Ministry, an organization dedicated to serving the homeless populations of Rutherford and Polk counties through a faith- based shelter and recovery program. "We have identifi ed a need in our community for support services for the homeless population, and are excited to be able to partner with a great local organization who is working to address those needs and serve those individuals," said Rachel Donelli, Director of Case Management at RRHS. "This partnership will strengthen our ability to provide resources to these individuals as they seek medical care in our facilities." Out of the Ashes founder Pat Chamberlain met with RRHS behavioral health and case management teams on Thursday to discuss the partnership. "We're collaborating with the team here and are excited about making a difference in our community together," Chamberlain said. "We look forward to the upcoming resources we will be able to provide for our community through this partnership." RRHS will be providing mental and behavioral health support and referrals for Out of the Ashes as they expand from their current 25-bed capacity to a 70-bed capacity. "As the local health system, we're excited about any opportunity we have to partner with the local community," said Terri Robinson, Director of Behavioral Health at RRHS. "Our behavioral health team will be able to support the needs of Out of the Ashes and really help make a difference in the mental health needs of these populations."
