South Gibson Star-Times Tuesday, September 13, 2022 A-3 and approved Andrew Wil- liams to join the parks and recreation board upon the re- tirement of John English from the board. Williams, according to Mat- sel, is already known to many for his help with the baseball fields, and he was recom- mended by the board. "They thought he would be a good choice. He's from here," Matsel said. The board also approved Jason Boyle, who is from Ow- ensville but recently bought Evansville Blinds, to install blinds over the large win- dows at the Owensville Town Hall. The windows above the door can only be reached by ladder, so a blind system on a remote control will allow peo- ple in the office and those who use the area for events to cut off the glare. The cost will be $2,111, and will be finished in four to five weeks. The board also approved $720 to replace an ethernet SmartSwitch, $8,350 toward tree removals around town, which will be done by Sloan Tree Ser vice. The council has discussed installing Gibson Southern State Championship signs, which will reflect all GSHS teams that have gone to state. The quote was $794 for one sign, and the town wants to get another quote. Fall Clean-up Day will be 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 8, where two dumpsters for heavy trash will be on the square for drop offs. The board planned a meet- ing with Wessler engineers on the new sewage plant project at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the town hall. The board tabled roof re- pair options at the town hall to get a better idea of what each quote included. "Pray for no 100-year rains coming up," Matsel joked. A public hearing is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 4 for a hearing on the budget. Finally, the town board approved a $10,000 agree- ment with the John and Jane Braselton Tr ust to allow the town to drill on the land to see if there is water, and in- cludes an option for the town to buy the land if they find water. "That one's been a long time coming," said Councilman Co- rey Taylor. Bulletin Do you have an upcoming community event?
