Born in Cleveland County on March 29, 1940, he was a son of the late William Reece White and Maggie Lou Wright White. Mr. White served our coun- try in the US Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Carol Green White; two sons, Reece White and Mark White all of Shelby; one brother, Dale White and wife, Delores of Boiling Springs; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral service was held July 31, 2022 at Stamey- Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Black officiating. The burial followed the service in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. She is survived by her hus- band, Virgil Oaks; daughters, Kristy Owens and husband Reid of Shelby and Dana Pressley and husband Matt of Kings Mountain; sons, Jason Bennett and Brad Oaks and wife Amber, both of Shelby; sister, Tonia Davis; brother, Barry Linkous, both of Shelby; and many grand- children and great-grandchil- dren. Mrs. Champion is sur- vived by her husband, Dean Champion; her son, Tim Champion and his wife Kathryn; and by three grand- children. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: sisters Nellie Runyans Monsees, Lenna Runyans Shaw, Jewel Runyans, and brothers Harold Runyans and Robert Runyans.
