Although it's something nobody likes to think about, any report of a missing person can be very scary for all involved. In years past, finding a missing person was hard, if not impossible, to do. Most of the time, the people missing were children. Now, the elderly are becoming the most common among missing people. Fortunately, with the advancement of technology, there are new and faster ways to locate a missing older individual. It's always a relief when a missing person is found, but many are left wondering, "How did they find that person?...Where did they start looking?....What led authorities to eventually locating them?" Through the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, a seminar, "Silver Alerts, From Beginning to End" will be held on Thursday, August 11, from 10:30-11:30AM at the Neal Senior Center. The presenter will be Sgt. Derek Shaffer, who will explain the ways missing seniors are located. A demonstration of how drones are used in tracking a missing person will also be included. The presentation is free of charge, but pre-registration is required. To pre-register, please contact the Neal Senior Center at 704/482-3488 and give your name and contact informa- tion to the receptionist. The deadline to pre-register is Tuesday, August 9 at 12 Noon.
