LELA BLANCHE HICKS Lela Blanche Hicks, 92, of Lawndale, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Born in Cleveland County, on December 29, 1929, she was a daughter of the late William Charlie Hicks and Mary Emily Swink Hicks. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Hicks and two sisters, Pauline and Corene Hicks. She is survived by her brother, Bill Hicks of Lawndale. RUTH BLANTON CREACH Ruth Blanton Creach, 94 of Polkville, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022. She was born in Cleveland County to Tommie and Lula Glenn Blanton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Fredrick Creach; a sister, Mary Helen B. Bradley and three brothers, Eugene Blanton, J.B. Blanton and Jack Blanton. She is survived by her children, Rev. Dr. Jerome F. Creach and wife, Rev. Dr. Page Davis Creach of Pittsburgh, PA and Carmen C. Johnson and husband, Darryl Johnson of Acworth, GA; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris B. Bettis of Earl and Sue B. Martin and hus- band, William A. RONALD FAYE DEATON Ronald Faye (FATTIE) Deaton, 76, of Blacksburg, SC, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022. He was the husband of Brigitte Peeler Deaton and son of the late Stoy William and Mary Louise Tucker Deaton. In addition to his wife, cherishing his memory are daughters; Amanda George, Crystal Cole, Tonya (Tracy) Blanton, Jennifer (Alan) Courtney all of Gaffney and Nichole Wallace of Aiken, SC, sons, Manson and Daniel Deaton of the home, sisters; Brenda Giles, Wanda Dixon, Sue (Randy) Bridges and Joyce (Melvin) Jolly all of Blacksburg; five grandchil- dren and three great grand- children. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by twin brother, Donald Raye Deaton, and brothers-in-law, John L. Giles and Larry. Vickie was born Tuesday, November 15, 1960 in Burke County, NC. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Shirley Hill; a grand- son and a granddaughter. Left to cherish fond mem- ories are her husband, Kevin Bright; her children, Jacob Bright (Kristin) of Shelby, Ash-Leigh Patito (Matthew) of Sandy Mush, Jessica Shahan (Robbie) of Rutherfordton, Matthew Bright (Amber) of Sandy Mush and a special daugh- ter of the home, Jocelynn Moody; sister, Teri Shires of Ellenboro, Kenneth Farrar of Corpus Christie, TX, Richard Farrar of Charlotte and her in-laws, Johnny and Beatrice Bright of Henrietta; and elev- en grandchildren.
