Lady Titans pound out 24 runs at FP By Andy Heuring Star-Times Sports sports@sgstartimes.com Gibson Southern's girls pounded out 24 runs against Forest Park, including 13 in a massive fourth inning, while Alexis Tucker and Callie Dick- erson combined for a no-hitter. The Titans had 13 straight bat- ters reach base in the fourth on their way to a 10 -run rule 24-0 win Thursday. Titan Coach Gary May said they might have done that be- fore, "but I can't remember when." "That was probably one of the best performances in re- gards to hitting from every- one, that I ever remember," said May. On the defensive side Alexis Tucker pitched three innings, striking out one and walking one. Dickerson came in for two innings, struck out five and walked one to no hit the Ranger. The first inning looked like the offense would get off to a slow start as Sydney Long and Lauryn Adamson both failed to reach base. But Brenna Blume ended that streak as she blasted a homerun over the fence in left center. Olivia Money walked before Ally Malone ripped a pitch out of the park for a 3-0 lead. Tay- lor Fonte singled as did Em- malee Higgs setting the stage for Tucker's rbi single for a 4- 0 lead. The second inning was more of the same. Long also led off the second inning, but this time singled. Adamson homed for a 6 -0 lead. Blume doubled on a 3-0 pitch. Money doubled Blume in. Malone walked before Fon- te, the sixth batter of the in- ning made the first out. Higg singled, driving in Money, before Tucker cleared bases with a drive over the fence for a three-run homer and a 9 -0 lead. The Lady Titans took an in- ning off in scoring, but they unleashed a 13-run barrage in the fourth inning, as 13 con- secutive batters reached safe- ly and scored. It started with back to back singles by Tucker and Smith, before Sydney Long hit an 0 - 2 pitch over the left field fence for a three-run homer. Adamson started it over with a single, followed by Blume's double before Mon- ey's two-run single knocked in Adamson and Blume. Malone singled, then Fonte and Higgs both walked. Tucker knocked in two runs with a double. Smith singled, Long doubled and Adamson walked. The in- ning finally ended when Fon- te, the 17th batter, flew out to left field. Dickerson shut down Rang- ers in the top of the fifth to end the game on the 10 -run rule 24-0. Long was 3 for 4 with 3 rbi, 1 homerun and scored twice.
