JAMES NEWS Mrs. Schneider's first graders at St. James Cath- olic School are egg-cited in waiting for the arrival of our classroom chickens. On April 19, the eggs will have been in our incuba- tor for 21 days. Each day we count down to their hatch via cutting a link from our chain, coloring an egg on our color me countdown, and watch- ing a video on the day by day of what's happening in- side the fertilized egg. In ad- dition, in our Egg to Chick Journal, we have made fold- ables for the five steps of the chicken life cycle, completed a K WL chart about eggs, and labeled the many parts of the chicken egg. Most recently we watched a Magic School Bus educational video titled, Who Cracks the Yolk?, and an- swered comprehension ques- tions. We look forward to studying the needs of chick- ens and writing up their birth certificates once they hatch. Happy Birthday to Domi- nic, Ben, Wyatt, Frances, At- ticus and Drew who celebrate their birthdays in summer. Keep up the good work as we strive to be Saints in the Making, first grade. Mrs. Schneider's first graders Dominic, Ben, Wyatt, Frances, Atticus and Drew celebrate their birthdays this summer. Mrs. Schneider's first graders placed 18 chicken eggs in the in- cubator, and we are looking forward to their arrival, approximately on April 19. We've been giving it to South Gibson and the surrounding counties for a long time, why not share what news you have with others? NEWS! 812-753-3553 South Gibson
