Titan track falls just short By Andy Heuring Star-Times Sports sports@sgstartimes.com Gibson Southern's track teams fell just short of Jas- per in both the boys and girls meets on Tuesday. Jasper won the boys meet with 87 points, with Gibson Southern at 78 and Evansville Signature at 2 points. Jasper claimed the girls meet as well with 74.5 points, and Gibson Southern in sec- ond at 60.5 points. Signature had 34 points. The Titan boys dominated the throwing events winning seven of eight places given in the two events. Sloan Cox threw a near re- cord 56'8" to win the shot put. Along with team mates Hank Kissel, Brock Fauquher and Jackson Redding, all four top- pled 40 feet in the shot put. Kissel was second at 43'3.5", just edging Fauquher in third at 43'2.5" and Redding at 41'11.5". Kissel topped Cox in the discus for first place with a toss of 142'9". Cox was sec- ond at 134'1" Jasper's Miranda was third at 128'10" and Titan Braxton Toy fourth at 126'5". Michael Herron won both the 100 and 200 for the Titans; he ran a 11.4 in the 100 and 23.01 in the 200. Teammate Daniel Thomas was third in the both events with times of 11.76 and 24.91. Herron and Thomas also teamed with Chanlder and Se- an DeLong to finish second in the 4 x100 relay, just 0.02 sec- onds behind Jasper. Other winners for the Ti- tans were McCade Chandler in the pole vault with a leap of 11'. Beau Rose was third at 9' for the Titans. Lucian Wicker won the 300 hurdles in a time of 44.09, Chris Spear was third at 45.29. Both also placed in the 110 hurdles, Wicker second in 17.81 and Spear third in 17.84. Cooper Maurer also won the 800 run in 2:07.85. Ethan Spindler was second in the high jump at 5'10". Bro- dy Riggs was fourth at 5'. Hayden Pennington placed in both the distance events. He ran a 10 :25 in the 3200 ; with Alex Spindler running a 11:12 for fourth. In the mile, Pennington was fourth with a time of 4:52.24. Gibson Southern's girls team had four firsts in the meet. Chloey Graham won the shot put with a toss of 34'. Fellow Titan Haley Edwards was second in the shot with a toss of 33'5.75". Graham al- so placed second in the discus with a throw of 101'9", just one foot out of first place. Cassie Reeves won the long jump at 14'11.5" and Hailey Richter placed third with a jump of 14'4". Miah Roesch won the 100 hurdles in 18.52 leaning at the line to beat Jasper's Zaz- zetti, who was just 0.02 be- hind. Roesch also placed sec- ond in the 300 with a time of 1:04.44; and Madalynn Davis placed fourth in 1:10.61. The Lady Titans other win in the meet was the 4 x 400 team of Keelyn Wilkerson, Carmen Hasenour, Courtney Heldt and Hailey Richter, who ran a 4:19.8. Rachel Pohl placed second in the high jump at 4'8" and Edwards was fifth with a leap of 4'6". Ella Jones placed second in the 200 with a time of 27.84, and third in the 100 in 13.55. Olivia Pennington ran a 6:09; and Aleks Parmer a 6:24 to place fourth, and fifth in the 1600. Madalynn Steckler was third in the 3200, with a time of 13:25.93. The Lady Titans Court- ney Heldt, Hart and Hase- nour placed second, third and fourth in times of 2:34.44, 2:39.44 and 2:40.89. Aleha Rexing rounds the fourth turn and heads to the finish line in a relay. Jake Richter gets big air in the long jump. Hank Kissel launches a throw in the shot put. He threw 43'3.5" in the shot for second place and won the discus with a throw of 142'9". Left: Miah Roesch clears a hurdle in the 110 hurdles, which she won with a time of 18:52.
