The Otwell Miller fifth graders completed a Presidential coin identification and history, then investigated using the scientific meth- od, how many drops of water each coin would hold. Prior to the activity, the students practiced with water molecule kits from the USI STEM Loan Program to learn how to balance the formula for water, what the formula for water is, and the properties of water. For the coin investigation, they had to focus on the cohesive and adhesive properties of water molecules. Fun fact... one drop of water holds about 3x10 to the 21st power of atoms: 3,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, which is three sextillion. Canton Capehart and Kaydan Hill. Sawyer Kabrick and Wyatt Nolan. Peyton Taylor and Madilyn Woosley. Third, fourth, and fifth grade classes saw "Dog Man, the Musical," at the Jasper Arts Center. Third grade students Rylee Nelson, Alayah Willis and Aubrey Sturgeon read each night during the month of February. They received a free book of their choice from their teacher as a reward. Bentley Dent and Jeffrey Johnson are working on the daily calendar. Lakai Naranjo works on math with Ms. Lesley. Millie Modesitt spent her Chief Tickets to work in Mrs. Beck's class with her big brother Mylz's class. Part of her "job" was to have fun writing and drawing in shav- ing cream. Students are: Mylz Modesitt, Ezra Hill, Madelyn Haycraft, Jack Deffen- doll and Millie Modesitt. Cousins Ryken Biesterveld, from Mrs. Kavanaugh's class, and Bren Smith, from Mrs. Miller's class, participated in "Hat Day" to support the PES Robotics Team heading to state competition in Indianap- olis. Brantley Craig and Avelynn Willis, from Mrs. Miller's class, and Dublin Russell, from Mrs. Boeckman's class, also took part in "Hat Day" and all wore Disney themed hats. Baylee Lundy, Adessah Ross, Korbin Trowbridge, and Mrs. Teague cheer on the PES Robotics Team by wearing mis- matched clothes to support them in the state competition in Indianapolis. Victoria Carrico and Car- son Leavitt are "Thing 1 and Thing 2" during Read Across America Week. Rylee Hayes and Kaybree Nixon are "Thing 1 and Thing 2" during Read Across Amer- ica Week. Trinity Gross gets a laugh from her Dr. Seuss book during the school wide read- in. The students read books in many different ways and places during "Read Across America" week. William Russell enjoys reading his book. Fourth grader Piper Thomp- son reads a book to 1st grad- er Christopher Ball as part of "books with buddies" day.
