Liam Jones, Trevor Harper, Virginia Wininger and Annabelle Zimmerman have a good time at the Stu- dent Council Winter Dance. Piper Thompson, Stihl Nalley, Axel Russell, Myka Robling and Katie Halter buy snacks at the dance concession stand. Abby Aldridge's students celebrated the Chinese New Year with special activities. They made paper lanterns and dragons and had "Chinese" snacks. Haiden Cook and Sadie VanMeter dressed as 100 years olds on the 100th day of school. Rylee Hayes uses chocolate kisses to count to 100 on the 100th day of school. Peyton Bush, in Stephanie Shedd's first grade room, presented her Science project to the class. She showed the crystallization process on a deer skull. Raegan Drew puts her hand in ice water as the Mad Scientist, Mrs. Hudson, demonstrates a science experiment. The kinder- garten students were studying penguins, and how their blub- ber keeps them warm. They al- so discussed safety around fro- zen ponds... because they are not penguins! Tenth grade bio-med student, Ella Adams, talks with sixth graders, Ice- lyn Goodwin, Zoey Barrett and Amber Cassity, about building the organs on a skeletal system. Tenth grade bio-med student, Lexie Onyett, explains the digestive system to Mrs. Weisman's sixth grade science students, Kylie Marcum, Serenity Bar- rett, Zoe Russell and Keira Blaize. Mr. Russell, Bio-Med teacher, shows Mrs. Weisman's sixth grade science stu- dents how long the small intestine is, before going into his classroom, which is set up like the digestive system, by his second year students. Third grade students, Cheyenne Doades, Aubrey Sturgeon, Paisley Collins, Alayah Willis and Rylee Nelson read each night in January. They received a book as a reward. Third grade student, Alivia Dawson, read each night in January. She re- ceived a free book from her teacher as a reward. Straw launchers were also demonstrated. They were a big hit! Miss Paige, from the USI STEM Loan Program, visited with OMA recently to show students how to use some of the STEM equipment . The students' fa- vorite so far is the gyroscope.
