Jesus had the most all en- compassing mind this world has ever seen. His convictions were so strong so unswerv- ing that He was not afraid to mingle with any group, se- cure in the knowledge that He would not be contaminat- ed or swayed. Fear makes us unwilling to give voice to our convictions or to listen to those of others, who fear of rejection, fear our beliefs will be attacked, fear our faith might be shaken. But if that is the case, perhaps we need to examine just how deep our convictions really are. Jesus had no such fear, no need to fence Himself off from others for His own protection. He knew the difference be- tween graciousness and com- promise and we would do well to follow His example. If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your pres- ence will be appreciated and I'm sure you will feel the bless- ing of God. May God bless each and everyone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. Facing a New Year in a crazy time Most of us are excited about the New Year, that is, excited about the potential of a great year minus our ongoing con- cerns about COVID, the econ- omy, politics, etc. Maybe all of these concerns serve a helpful purpose in that they remind us to trust God more. A fter all, our peace, hap- piness and joy are not depen- dent on any of the above things getting any better. Ultimate- ly, we really do need to trust God more. People of almost all centu- ries since the time of Christ and before have faced similar and sometimes worse circum- stances. We can learn from the apostle Paul to "be content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves." Our content- ment comes not from the gov- ernment, or the absence of dis- ease, or even a good economy. WINSLOW CHRISTIAN CHURCH Corner of Lafayette and Walnut Pastor 812-753-3539 Regular services: Sunday school 9:30 a.m.; morning wor- ship 10 :30 a.m. Everyone is wel- come to our services. "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all cir- cumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (I Thessalonians 5:16 -18). Dr. Robert Asa, Minister Each of these things is very uncertain. And yet, in Christ, we discover "peace that passes all understanding." We find in Him, "joy unspeakable and full of glory." We know that "hap- piness is the Lord." I am confident that as we en- ter 2022, we do so with faith that acknowledges that even though the New Year may bring challenges, even disap- pointments, all will be well in our hearts and souls because of the Christ who came to give us eternal life.
