Poplar Street, Petersburg "In Whom [Christ] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins ac- cording to the riches of His grace" (Eph. 1:7). Forgiveness under Grace—(Eph. 4:32; Col. 1:14; 2:13; 3:13; Rom. 4:7; 2 Cor. 2:7,10 ; Acts 13:38; 26:18). The knowledge of complete grace forgive- ness gives the believer great peace and joy un- speakable. Fear and guilt are banished! We are secure in Christ (Rom. 8:31-39; Eph. 1:13,14; 4:30). Forgiveness under the Law—"If My peo- ple, which are called by My name, shall hum- ble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chron. 7:14). The Law is based on the if-then principle and is a system of conditional blessing. "Now therefore, if ye will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto Me above all people: for all the earth is Mine" (Ex. 19:5). Forty-five years have passed and more than 2,300 columns have been published. To- day, a number of newspapers carry Religious Viewpoint. From the beginning our purpose has been to share current events and trends as it relates to the Christian faith. I have of- ten written about the decline in family values and the moral climate in America. During the past 45 years, I have traveled to more than 47 countries and shared a religious viewpoint on what is happening in different parts of our world. I have talked to many religious and po- litical leaders and made many interesting dis- coveries. As we begin 2022, we face a growing eco- nomic crisis at home. A fter 9/11 and A fghan- istan, we understood the meaning of terror- ism and live with the fear of future attacks. As we face 2022, war is on the horizon in the Middle East. At the same time, the culture is changing in Ameri- ca and our values are vanishing. Eighty-five percent of our church- es are in decline and what might appear to be church growth in some mega churches, accord- ing to Barna surveys, is just recruiting members from other churches. The cults are growing while many churches are in decline. Even with the storm clouds on the horizon, we have much to be thankful for as we focus our attention on God's eternal faithfulness. Our president has set a moral and cancel cul- ture standard that is dangerous. Hope everyone had a good Christmas and that the New Year to come will provide a more pleasant year for us all. Christmas didn't feel like Christmas Day this year and Saturday didn't feel much like a Saturday. It is hard to put into words just why this was, but many folks have mentioned this fact. The weather was sort of un-typical of De- cember weather but that seemed to only be part of the reason for the confused feelings. As far as our weather is concerned we know for sure we haven't seen winter yet. With the temperature going up and down like it has for a couple of months there have been many colds and sore throats. I think maybe it might be because you don't know how to dress as you face each day. I read in a magazine one time how we are healthier in winter time conditions but our bod- ies feel better in summer time conditions. As for myself I am getting arthritis in my thumbs and they feel better when they are warmer. Having arthritis in your thumbs is rather un- handy because your thumbs are involved with many of your daily life chores.
