He was born Oct. 11, 1928, to the late William Russell Loughmiller and Audrey Ack- man Loughmiller, of Daviess County, Ind. He attended and graduated Barr Township High School in 1946. He received a bachelor's degree in education from In- diana University in 1952, and a master's degree in educa- tion from Indiana University in 1953. He was a rank leader in the Marching 100 at IU. He received the degree of Doctor of Education from Heed Uni- versity in 1970. He served in the United Stated Air Force from 1953- 1957; during this time, he was married to Joyce Faye Cun- ningham on June 26, 1955. He worked at McDonnell Douglass Aircraft from 1957- 1958. He served as a school ad- ministrator in Knox, Pike and Daviess counties, and as a con- sultant for the Indiana State Department of Education. He was principal at Winslow High School for the 1969 - 1970 school year. He worked at Crane Surface Warfare Cen- ter for 23 years. He had many accomplish- ments. He was a retired farm- er, a Master Mason, a mem- ber of the Shrine, Hadi Shri- ner, and was captain of the Da- viess County Shrine Motor Patrol, and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. However, his greatest achievement was his family that he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Loughmiller; his two children, Keith Lough- miller and Karen Loughmiller Hoevel (Matt); and one grand- son. A service was at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 1 p.m., at Fredrick and Son- Gill Funeral Home in Wash- ington. Burial followed in Bethany Cemetery. DAVID HARTING David Harting, 85, of Peters- burg, passed away December 24, 2021, after a short stay at Amber Manor. He was born November 22, 1936, in Freelandville, to Wal- ter and Edna (Carman) Hart- ing. He was raised in Freeland- ville. Both of his parents had large families and that was an important part of his life. As a boy, he mowed the local cem- etery and worked at a service station. He also helped his fa- ther run a route picking up cream cans from area dairy farms. They also delivered coal to people's homes for heating in the winter. He at - tended the EUB church and al- so played basketball. A fter graduation from Freelandville High School in 1954, he worked for RCA in Bloomington, building some of the very first color televi- sions. During that time, he al- so drove trucks over the road with his future father-in-law and future brother-in-law and several friends. This experi- ence was the start of a life- long love of traveling. In 1957, he started working at Clifty Creek power plant in Madison. A fter several years there, he moved to Evansville and worked at the Alcoa War- rick power plant. In 1969, he moved to Petersburg as part of the group that started up the Hoosier Energy plant in Petersburg. He was a control room operator there until his retirement in 1997. In his re- tirement, he was a volunteer at Somebody's Place, along with others from the First Chris- tian Church in Petersburg, where he attended services. On April 26, 1958, he mar- ried Mary Estabrook, they were married until her death in November of 2003. Togeth- er, they traveled to 48 states, as well as most of the prov- inces of Canada, and went on trips to Mexico. They enjoyed visiting out-of-the-way places. One of his favorite comments was "I wonder if anyone from Petersburg has ever been here before? " He enjoyed history, particu- larly W WII and the Civil War. His travels often involved mu- seums and historic sights. He always followed world events and read about many topics. He enjoyed auto racing, NA- SCAR and the Indianapolis 500 in particular. He also en- joyed watching basketball and old T V shows. He is survived by his son, Jeff (Angie) Harting, of Pe- tersburg; a grandson, Brax- ton (Natalie) Harting, and their sons, Miles and Lucas, of Jasper; a granddaughter, Car- ly (Ryan) McCain, and their sons, Carter, Caleb and Cros- by, of Ireland; his sister, Mary Lou Stang, of Lacrosse, Kan.; and 25 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; and a sister, Jeanette Thomas, of Louisville, Ky. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at O.D. Harris Funer- al Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Thurs- day at the funeral home. MARK STEVEN ARNOLD Mark Steven Arnold, 70, of Francisco, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospi- tal in Newburgh. He was born in Vincennes on July 6, 1951, to the late Rob- ert Arnold and Ruth ( Wilson) Myers. He had worked in the coal mine for 16 years and the next 35 years in sales. He was a Past Master of Oakland City Masonic Lodge #467. He is survived by his wife, Claudetta Arnold, of Fran- cisco; son, Joshua Arnold, of Francisco; sister, Vikki Ar- nold Bates, of Camden, S.C.; brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Phyl- lis) Stewart, Dennie Stewart, Dwight (Brenda) Stewart and Ed Bates; sisters-in-law, Sha- ron ( John) Williams, Mariet- ta (Bill) Crocker; and several extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ar- nold. A Masonic Memorial ser- vice will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Lamb-Basham Memo- rial Chapel in Oakland City, followed by a Celebration of Life, with Pastor Curt Beadle officiating. MARY WILLIAMS DeMOT TE Mary Williams DeMotte passed from this earth into eternal glory on December 23, 2021. She was a mom, daugh- ter, Mimi, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, co-worker, neighbor or friend; if you ever met her, she undoubtedly made an im- pact on your life in one way or the other. She was kind, quiet, helpful, intuitive, wise, caring and loyal. She loved books and recipes, was a talented deco- rator, and knew how to make the ordinary into extraordi- nary. She was a lifelong lover of music and played the piano for church weekly. She was very devoted to her family and could be seen at most events supporting her grandchil- dren and loved ones. She was always present with an open door and open arms to hang out and visit. She was inten- tional and generous and wasn't afraid to travel to cheer on her loved ones in various activities to make memories and share her contagious laugh. She is survived by her moth- er, Patty Williams; three chil- dren Amy (Scott) Feldmeier, of Louisville, Ky., Eric ( Joan- na) DeMotte, of Newburgh, and Kim ( Joe) Robinson, of Oakland City; 11 grandchil- dren; her brothers, Mike and Dave Williams; and many oth- er family and friends. She was born July 6, 1938, in Stonewall, Okla., to Barney and Mary ( Vickers) Bushers; and married Jack G. Brown on December 12, 1959, in Oak- land City. She graduated from Spur- geon High School in 1956; and worked at The Waters of Hunt- ingburg for over 30 years. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by five chil- dren, Kevin ( Janet) Brown, of Huntingburg, Kelly Brown, Karla (Daniel) Uppencamp of Petersburg, Kregg (Beth) Brown, of Holland, and Sha- rol Merrie of Stilwell, Okla.; one sister, Linda Lau, of Hunt- ingburg; one sister-in-law, Jane Perry, of Huntingburg; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack G. WEHR Roger A. Wehr, 72, of Vel- pen, formerly of Jasper, passed away at 11:17 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at home. He was born in Washing- ton on June 15, 1949, to Eu- gene and Ardella (Gehlhau- sen) Wehr. He married Carol Stenftena- gel on December 8, 1973, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper. He was a 1967 graduate of Ireland High School and a United States Army Veteran, who served during Vietnam. He was the owner of Wehr Construction and Masonry and continued to work in con- struction until his retirement, with his son, who took over the business. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ireland, and a lifetime mem- ber of both the V.F.W Post # 673 and American Legion Post #147. He enjoyed hunt- ing, fishing, playing Sheeps- head, hobby farming with his Oliver tractors, and spending time with his family, especial- ly his grandchildren and at- tending their sporting events. He is survived by his wife, Carol Wehr, of Velpen; two children, Josh (Michelle) Wehr, of Ireland, and Erin (Darrin) Whaley, of Ireland; four grandchildren; four sis- ters, Marilyn Bueltel, of Jas- per, Carolyn Blemker, of Or- lando, Brenda (Phil) Helmer- ich, of Huntingburg, and Judy ( John) Jefferies, of Ireland; two brothers, Jerry (Darlene) Wehr, of West Lafayette, and Scott Wehr, of Henry, Ill. He worked for Wyatt Seed Company in Petersburg nearly his whole life. He loved drink- ing coffee with his friends around town and taking care of his rabbits. He is survived by his sister, Donna (Charles) Richardson; nephews, Christopher and Ed- die Richardson; nieces, Ange- la Parsons, Rebecca Gray and Cheryl Richardson; and his beloved dog, Jingles.
