He was born on November 11, 1953, in Bowman, to the late Vernice W.H. and Norma Lee (Craig) Kruse. He attended White Riv- er Chapel United Methodist Church in Bowman. He was baptized in September 1966. He graduated from Peters- burg High School in 1971. He also attended Indiana Univer- sity at Bloomington, where he graduated with an honors AB degree in Chemistry, also re- ceiving the Phi Beta Kappa award. He then attended Indi- ana University Medical School in Indianapolis, where he re- ceived his MD degree, fol- lowed by a one-year intern- ship at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. Finally, he attended Indiana Univer- sity Medical Center in India- napolis, where he finished his Ophthalmology Residency in 1982, becoming a board-cer- tified ophthalmologist. He initially practiced at Welborn Clinic (Evansville), from 1982- 1985, then moved to Kokomo to join Alan Crebo, MD at Cen- tral Indiana Eye Institute. He was a past president of the Howard County Medical So- ciety and has served on vari- ous committees at Ascension St. Vincent Kokomo (former- ly St. Joseph Hospital), includ- ing chief of staff of the surgery department and president of the medical staff. In 2001, he co-founded Cataract and La- ser Institute ASC in Koko- mo, the first ambulatory sur- gical center built in Kokomo, where he continued to prac- tice until his death. He really cherished the friendships he made over the years with the devoted medical profession- als, staff and patients that he called friends. He was a devoted husband and father, and enjoyed travel- ing and spending time with his family. He loved woodwork- ing and watching old Western movies, something he had en- joyed doing with his grandfa- ther. He had many other inter- ests, including coaching PAL Soccer and little league base- ball. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts, including the achievement of Eagle Scout and the God and Country award. He served as Cubmas- ter for Pack 3511 and Scout- master for Troop 519. He also served as a director on the ex- ecutive committee for the lo- cal Boy Scout Council (Saga- more Council) and received the council's highest award, the Silver Beaver Award. He took immense joy in teaching, leading and in helping to ad- vance the lives of young peo- ple, and truly valued the rela- tionships that he developed there. He was also very inter- ested in genealogy and had ex- tensively researched various lineages of his ancestors, ulti- mately compiling these find- ings in several books. He was a proud grandfather and one of the greatest joys of his life was spending time with his three grandchildren, Will, Drew and Ben. He enjoyed attend- ing their baseball and soccer games, going to the movies, al- ways providing a steady sup- ply of donuts, teaching them how to drive the lawnmower and just being together. He was a wonderful and generous man with a smile on his face and a joke to share. He was a friend to all he met. His loss is felt immensely and im- measurably. He is survived by his wife, Lori A. Fetters; brother, Paul W. (Donna) Kruse, MD; niece and goddaughter, Stephanie A. Kruse; daughter, Jenni- fer A. (Bill) Taylor; sons, Ste- phen P. Kruse and Jonathan A. Kruse; stepson, Devon Fet- ters, MD; stepdaughter, Mor- gan Fetters; grandchildren, Will, Drew and Ben Taylor; aunt, Jane (Craig) Etter; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Teresa N. (Farmer) Kruse (m. 1976); and grand- parents, William T. and Cle- da (Sutton) Craig, and Paul M. and Sophia (Block) Kruse. Sharp, 82, of Oakland City, entered rest on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born on Oct. 22, 1939, in Somerville, to Ken- neth and Wanda (Harper) Hale. CHARLOT TE ANN BROCK Charlotte Ann Brock, 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oakland City. She was born July 11, 1948, in Tell City, to Arthur and Madge Flamion. She had resided in Glezen for 10 years, after moving from Huntingburg, where she had worked at Styline Logistics for several years. She is survived by her sons, Chris (Tracy) Jenkins, of Glezen, and Thomas Pace Jenkins, of Loogootee; sever- al grandchildren; and a niece. DALE KEITH CHRISTMAS Dale Keith Christmas, 61, of Worthington, formerly of Princeton, passed away Fri- day, December 17, 2021, at his home. He was born January 24, 1960, in Princeton, to the late Davey Christmas and Mary (Patton) Christmas. He served in the United States Army and had worked at Meyers Distributing. He was a member of the American Legion Post #106 of Worthing- ton, and enjoyed fishing, hunt- ing for arrowheads and play- ing poker. He was loved and will be missed. He is survived by his son, Michael (Christine) Christ- mas, of Velpen; daughter, Mi- chelle Flaharty; 10 grand- children; two great-grand- children; and siblings, Deb- bie (Mike) Thomas, Donna Tyree and Donald (Christi) Christmas. DENNIS WAYNE HOLLIS Dennis Wayne Hollis, 74, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at The Good Samaritan Home. He was born in Otwell on March 31, 1947, to Paul and Jane Lavone (Davis) Hollis. He graduated from Otwell High School and earned a de- gree in design engineering from Vincennes University. He retired as a design engi- neer from Faultless Caster af- ter 36 years of service. He en- joyed golfing, woodworking and horse racing. Above all, he loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. PEGGY LOU WARNSMAN Peggy Lou Warnsman, 89, of Oakland City, entered rest on Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care and Hospital in Jasper. She was born on Oct. 31, 1932, in Plainville, to Cletus and Corinne( Walls) Sheetz. She worked at Oakland City College as registrar from 1970 to 2000. STEPHEN EUGENE GLADISH Stephen Eugene Gladish, 74, passed away December 13, 2021, at Willow Manor in Vincennes, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born January 5, 1947, to Orval and Hazel King Gladish. He was raised on the Glad- ish farm outside Montgomery and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving three years in the Vietnam War before re- turning home. He married Debra May Harder on October 25, 1970. They had two sons, Brian E. Gladish and Scott A. Gladish. A fter his military service, he became a barber at his Un- cle Bob King's barbershop in Petersburg. He later moved to Jack's barbershop in Washing- ton, before beginning a job at Crane Naval Base, where he would retire after 35 years. Upon his retirement, he was given an American flag that had been flown over our na- tion's Capitol building in DC to recognize his many years of service to his country. He was an avid fan of At- lanta Braves baseball and IU basketball. One of his great- est pleasures was watching his sons and grandchildren play ball. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra; his sons Bri- an Gladish, of Newburgh, and Scott (Trish) Gladish, of Mont- gomery; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his brother, Tolan Gladish; and his sister, Janice (Gladish) Wininger. She married Danny Al- an Beadles on November 30, 1970, in Bangkok, and he pre- ceded her in death in 2019. She retired as a CNA from Golden Living. ALAN WAYNE NASS Alan Wayne Nass, 80, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10 :35 a.m. on Monday, Decem- ber 20, 2021, at his home. He was born January 6, 1941, in Stendal, to Chester and Matella (Patberg) Nass. They moved to Huntingburg in the Fall of 1941, where Alan graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1959 and was class Valedictorian. He was selected as the Out- standing Citizen of Hoosier Boy's State in 1958 and was Delegate to Boy's Nation in Washington, D.C. the same year. He was on the Indiana All-State Football Team in 1958 and the Indiana All-Star Basketball Team in 1959. He was offered 50 college scholarships in football and basketball; he chose Geor- gia Tech University and grad- uated in 1963 with a bache- lor's of Industrial Engineer- ing. He was then awarded the Callaway Mills Scholarship and graduated in 1965 with a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering. During his time at Georgia Tech, he played basketball, earning several awards and was inducted in- to the Georgia Tech Universi- ty Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1968, where he was class Vale- dictorian. He received his fu- neral director license and went on to be president of Nass and Son, Inc. Funeral Home for 40 years. In 1984, he was made a member of the Silver Anni- versary All-State High School Basketball team; and in 2013, was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. He was recognized for his many achievements, ranging from athleticism, academics, be- ing a business man, family man and, most importantly, a friend to many. He married Connie Kay Auf- derhar on June 25, 1961, at Sa- lem United Church of Christ. Together, they had three chil- dren, Susan, Andrew and Ste- phen. Alan was a lifelong mem- ber of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg and was active in teaching youth, young adults and adult classes for many years. He served four terms on the Salem Church Council and two terms on the board of directors of the Indi- ana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ. He chaired various conference committees on social justice issues; and preached at many churches in Indiana and Ken- tucky. He served as a member of the original Southwest Dubois County School Corporation for three terms, from 1969 - 1979; and was president of the Indiana School Boards Associ- ation from 1977-1978. He was a current member of the Oak- land City University Board of Trustees, the Indiana Basket- ball Hall of Fame Board of Di- rectors, and the Dubois Coun- ty Grand Lodge No. 520, Free and Accepted Masons. He is survived by his wife, Connie Nass, of Hunting- burg; two sons, Andy (Sammy Stills) Nass, of Huntingburg and Stephen Nass, of Evans- ville; his sister, Phyllis Perry, of Auburn; and by two grand- daughters, Alexis Mishel, of Westfield, and Anna Mishel, of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his daughter, Susan Mishel, who passed away on September 14, 2020 ; and brother-in-law, Keith Perry. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST on Thurs- day, December 23, 2021, at Sa- lem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg, with Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cem- etery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Hunting- burg, with a Masonic vigil ser- vice at 7 p.m., and again from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church.
