The Christmas season is one of love. It is a season of remembering that God of the universe came down to earth as a babe, changing every- thing. The Christmas season is about salvation. We recog- nize the gift of Jesus and what it meant for God to send him down to save us. He truly is the best gift of all. In the busyness of this Christmas season, choose to stop and remember what it is all about. We are saved be- cause of God's gift. We invite you to worship with us. The Hinge of History Author Unknown A well-known preacher once said, "The hinge of history is on the door of a Bethlehem stable." Christ was born at just the right moment in his- tory, not a day too soon or too late. Paul wrote, "When the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son" (Gala- tians 4:4)l. He was born in the right place—Bethlehem, just as Micah 5:2 has announced centuries before. He was born of a virgin, just as Isaiah 7:14 prophesied 700 years before. Yes, Jesus Christ's birth is the hinge of history: all his- tory prepared the way for His birth; and all history has felt His influence since His birth, life, death and resurrection. To leave out Jesus Christ is to make a mockery of history and to ignore the greatest Person to ever walk this earth. But He also wants to be the center of our lives. He wants to be born in our hearts. He wants to give us the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. This Christmas season, as our hearts are fixed on a holi- day, why not lift your heart to the Christ of Christmas and make it a holy day? It can be a day of salvation, and a day of new beginning for you. For Je- sus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundant- ly" ( John 10 :10). God's Endless Blessings "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God" ( John 1:1). "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" ( John 1:14). Many blessings come to us at this time of year. Our hearts and minds are filled with spe- cial memories, past memories, and the ones now created. The scriptures provide memories for us too. They re- mind us of our condition since the fall in the Garden of Eden and they remind us that God gives us hope, regardless of our circumstances. They re- mind us of a God who loved us so much He would meet our needs at any cost. John's Gospel tells us that Jesus, the Word, was with God in the beginning of all things, and that He took on flesh to live among us, ultimately sac- rificing himself for our sins. Praise God for the new be- ginning the coming of Christ affords us. Praise God for this holiday season, and for the op- portunity to enter an exciting New Year.
