"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10 NIV ). Joy is not necessarily hap- piness. Happiness is depen- dent on circumstances; joy is not. Joy is a deep seated sense that all things are well because God is in charge. It is serenity, a peaceful counte- nance that believes any adver- sity. It is the substance of the soul that holds us together as we trust in God, who does all things well. Jesus wants our joy to be full. "Thank you Jesus, for the joy that gives us strength to face whatever life throws our way. We have peace knowing you are in control"—Amen. We are praying for many who are suffering and need the Lord's peace and healing touch. We invite you to worship with us. Ralph Newkirk, Pastor Marla Morrison, Reporter BETHEL G.B. CHURCH 4933 E. Co. Everyone is wel- come. "Through wisdom a house is built, and by understand- ing it is established" (Prov- erbs 24:3). The family is the most im- portant institution in the world. It was God's idea in the first place. It was not the inven- tion of sociologists or econom- ics or government bureaucrats who decided it would make so- ciety operate more smoothly. Families existed before cities and governments, before writ- ten language, nations, temples and churches. In the home, character and integrity are formed, values are made clear and goals are set. These last a lifetime. And if they aren't formed correct- ly that too will result in pat- terns—bad patterns—that last a lifetime, if God doesn't interfere. Today, Satan is attacking the family as never before. But where are our defenses against such attacks? If at any time you have no church to attend, feel free to join us for services. Your pres- ence will be appreciated and I'm sure you will feel the bless- ing of God. May God bless each and everyone. Jerry "Tuffy" Blackwell, Pastor Sharon Kendall, Reporter WINSLOW G.B. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 Sunday morning worship service at 10 :30 a.m. Over the next couple weeks, our minds are focused on the rapidly approaching holiday season. Most retailers have been promoting Thanksgiving and Christmas merchandise for months now. Unfortunate- ly, by the time the holidays ac- tually arrive, some of the ex- citement and joy of these spe- cial days has already waned. This is just a reminder to take time to remember…along with your family and friends, the real significance of this wonderful season. You are invited to worship with us this Sunday. Spiritual Famine "Behold the days are com- ing, says the Lord God, that I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of bread, not a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. They shall wonder from sea to sea, and from north to east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the Lord, but will not find it" (Amos 8:11,12). This is true in America to- day and should be of great concern to believers in Christ Jesus. We are depriving our- selves and future generations of wisdom of Gods word. The truth is seldom taught to our children about religious his- tory of the last two thousand years. Atheist in America are making it hard for the Gide- on Bibles to be placed in ho- tel rooms and hospital wait- ing rooms, as they have been for years in the past. I believe if we take the Bible out of our culture we will become a na- tion of immorality. My prayer for all is that if you have refused the word of God and turned down His free gift and promise of eter- nal life, that it's not to late and your heart doesn't become cal- loused so you can make it back to God. "If you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is the Son of God and God rose Him from the grave you will be saved" (Romans 10 :9). Seventy-five years of God's blessings. We are grateful for the longevity of our church, but it is not the length of time that we are most thank- ful for, it is what God has ac- complished and is currently accomplishing. Through the ministry of our church and His continual blessings upon the church, many souls have been added to His kingdom, saints have kept the faith and victory, and many have went home to be with Jesus. Seven- ty-five years later, God is still blessing lives, saving souls and sanctifying hearts. We are eternally grateful. Chad Searls, Pastor Allen Parks, Reporter TWIN OAKS CHURCH 1911 E. Co.
