B-4 Wednesday, November 17, 2021 The Press-Dispatch Lady Chargers lose out to South Knox Spartans By Matthew Haycraft The Pike Central Lady Chargers faced off with the Lady Spartans on Friday, No- vember 12 at South Knox. In the first half of the varsi- ty game, the Lady Chargers fought, but were not prepared for the Spartans' shooting and defending techniques, finding them at the losing end of a 38 - 16 score at halftime. Although the Lady Chargers were los- ing, they seemed to keep in the fight for points, but were unable to put more than sev- en points together to the Spar- tans' 26 for the second half of the game. The varsity team ended up losing by a score of 64-23, unable to put together the points for the win. The junior varsity game started out good, with the La- dy Charger JV only being two points shy of tyeing for the first quarter with South Knox. However, in the second quar- ter, the Lady Chargers were overpowered by the Spartans by several points, with South Knox leaving the Pike Central in their dust. There was still hope on the court though and the Lady Chargers pulled to- gether for a hard fight through the third and fourth quarters. Unfortunately, they were un- able to pull in the points due to the defense of South Knox and other issues. Although the Pike Central JV team fought, they still ended up losing by a score of 45 -20. Head Coach Kyle Mc- Cutchan said, "The South Knox game was a rough game. South Knox shot the ball well and we just could not find any traction against them. We just were not ready to compete and that is on me. I have to get them ready to compete on a nightly basis." This leaves the Lady Char- gers at a 0 -3 record for the sea- son. They will play their next game at Wood Memorial on Friday, November 19.
