We are right on track as we move toward sectionals. We have been working on some specialized plays and got to execute a few of them during the game. I am pleased with the direction our team is mov- ing," stated Coach Shedd on the game and this week's team progress. The junior varsity team also played South Spencer Thurs- day night and won in two sets 25 -13, 25 -12. Junior Liberty Taylor had seven digs, two ac- es and five kills, while junior Alyna Sharp had one ace, two kills, three digs and one assist. Junior Delaney Welch had two digs, ten assists, one ace and two kills, while junior Emily Krieg had seven digs, two as- sists, two aces and three kills. "The team played great. They communicated and had great serving. Very proud of their accomplishments and attitudes on the court," com- mented Shedd." The junior varsity also brought home the win on Mon- day, September 27, defeating the Washington Hatchets. During this match-up, they came out slow and lost the first set, but finished with a pow, winning both second and third sets. The varsity Lady Chargers also played the Hatchets on Monday, defeating them 14- 25, 27-25, 17-25, 25 -14, 15 -11. The varsity team also start- ed off slow and lost the first set, but cranked up the fight dial and won the second set. The girls ended up losing the third set and were down in the fourth set by 8 -11. They dialed it up more and defeated the Hatchets for the win. Coach Shedd stated, "This was the most exciting match of the year. Everyone was so excited. This was a big confer- ence win for us. We are on a four-game winning streak and we are moving on the court as a team. I am ecstatic for the la- dies. I am so proud of their ef- fort. They are learning to bat- tle for victories and they are gaining confidence in them- selves and their teammates." The girls' varsity volleyball team is now 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference, rank- ing them eighth in the pock- et. They will play their next game at Tecumseh on Thurs- day, September 30. Cross Country Senior Day The Pike Central co-ed cross country team had their senior day after the PC Invitational on Saturday, Sep- tember 25, with a cookout at Prides Creek.
