SOMMERFEST: The summer's most essential festival June 17 – June 19 Tr y a fest with German flair this summer as Haubstadt Sommerfest hosts their annual three-day bash that will cel- ebrate essential workers with a community parade, as well as hosting the Laufenfest 5K race and more June 17-19. Rides and food booths open at 5 p.m. June 17-18, with eight to nine new rides provided by Tabor Amusements. DJs Trevor and Higgy will cue up the tunes at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17. On Friday, at 6 p.m., a Talent Show will grace the South Stage, and at 8 p.m., Nashville recording artists Wolfe and Nation will take the Main Stage with their classic rock, 90's and 2000's covers of rock and countr y music. On Saturday, work off your fried food fix at the Laufen- fest 5K run/walk and Lil' Dutch Run for the children, (registration opens at 6 a.m., and races begin at 8 p.m. for children, 8:20 a.m. for runners and 8:25 a.m. for walkers. Then hit the food booths again, and take a seat for the 1 p.m. parade. At 5 p.m., any food booths and rides that didn't open post-parade will be open. At 8 p.m., Torpedo Vegas re- turns to the main stage by popular demand, to cap off the night, and the festival. GIBSON COUNTY FAIR returns with new entertainment July 11 – July 17 No bull about it, the Gibson County Fair has planned an out- standing year, with new enter- tainment practically ever y night of the week-long summer attrac- tion—scratch that, with the rodeo coming, there will even be bulls at the filled-to-the-brim fairgrounds July 11-17. Headliner on Friday night is countr y musician Eddie Montgom- er y. New this year, Cincinnati Circus will do four shows Monday, July 12, two comedy shows and two stunt-centered shows. The fair will also bring a new game show, "Wheel of Ag," for children to test their farm knowl- edge, and will bring back favorites with the rodeo, magic show, mud volleyball, demo derbies and, of course, fair food. The 4-H projects and animals will also return to the fair, though that schedule has not yet been released.
