The Chargers jumped out in front with a one-run first in- ning on an RBI single by Hal- lie Bailey. They added two in the second and then six more spread over the fifth, sixth and seventh, while holding North to one unearned run in the fourth. Scoring help for Williams came in the form of a triple off the bat of freshman Lex- ie Onyett, a double by class- mate Xia Stafford and 11 sin- gles. Two of those singles ac- counting for two RBIs were courtesy of freshman Brailey Mills and likewise numbers from senior Mallory Hickey. Also collecting two hits were Onyett and Karley Kava- naugh. Xia Stafford, Delaney Welch, Hallie Bailey, Alynna Sharp and Kenzie Powell add- ed to the win with hits. Staf- ford and Powell were walked twice, and Onyett once. Maci Warner took the loss, going 4.2 innings, allowing seven hits, five earned runs, four walks and four strikeouts. Senior Abby Parker stepped in and finished with six hits, one earned run, one walk and three strikeouts. Pike Central Lady Charger softball is now 14-8 and 5 -6 in the conference with a road trip to Tell City on Wednesday. HOST NED ON ALUMNI/ YOUTH NIGHT This Thursday is Alumni/ Youth Night at the PC ball field, where all former Pike Central softball team mem- bers and area youth softball players are given free admis- sion to the game with NE Du- bois. Former Lady Charger players and area youth soft- ball players are invited to at- tend and will stand with the high school girls during the playing of the National An- them at 5:30 p.m. Pike Central's Braden Howald jumps out of the blocks at the start of the 110 high hurdles. Ijaa Chambers runs up the back stretch in the 1600, where he fin- ished in 13th for the Chargers with a time of 5:02.07. Peyton Chanley runs with his eyes closed in the 1600-meter run, where he finished 14th with a time of 5:02.43. Nate Kell readies himself for the start of the 200 meter dash. Howald took 18th in the pre- lims of the 110 hurdles, clock- ing 19.51. Nate Kell was 20th in the long jump, taping 15'9", and Griffin Boyd was 21st at 15'1.5". Fenn McCrary didn't get a height in the high jump. Garrett Boyd ran 24.32 for 12th in the 200 meter pre- lims and Nate Kell was 21st in 27.03. Boyd was 20th in the prelims of the 100 meter dash, clocking 12.20, and Griffin Boyd was 23rd in 12.51. The Patriots won four events to edge Tell City 95 to 83. Te- cumseh took three events, but placed eighth, while For- est Park was third with two wins and Boonville won three events and was fourth overall. Team results: Heritage Hills 95, Tell City 83, Forest Park 78.5, Boonville 72, Prince- ton 67, Southridge 47, Gibson Southern 42.50, Mt. Vernon 36.50, North Posey 31, Tecum- seh26, Washington 18, South Spencer 15, Pike Central 12.5.
