She was born January 15, 1936, in Winslow, to Cleo and Golda (Clark) Hedges. She had lived in Spurgeon for the past 30 years, moving there from Charlestown, Ind. She was a homemaker for ma- ny years while raising her chil- dren, then she went to work being a caregiver and CNA, working doing private duty care. She enjoyed sewing, cro- cheting, crafts and was an av- id reader. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cake decorating. She is survived by her hus- band, Bobby Winn, of Spur- geon; son, Charles (Carol) Fettinger, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Anna Moretz, of Huntingburg, and Jeannie Cole, of Charlestown; sister Eulah Dearing, of Hunting- burg; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Fet- tinger; brother, Richard Hedg- es; and sister, Barbara Bishop. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Corn-Colvin Fu- neral Home in Oakland City. Burial will follow in the Spur- geon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. PHILLIP COLEMAN Phillip Coleman, 88, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2021. He was born May 3, 1933, in Velpen, to Clinton and Edith (Bennett) Coleman. Warren, as he was called back home in Indiana, served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, mostly as a submariner. He reached the rank of E9 Mas- ter Chief Petty Officer as fast as you were able to and be- came the Chief of the Boat, (SSBN 618 Thomas Jeffer- son) in 1965. He was born and bred a country boy and it was obvi- ous when you saw his garden. There wasn't anything he couldn't grow. He also loved to build electronic devices and study the sciences, especially Astronomy. Stephen Hawking was one his favorite authors. He was married to his beau- tiful bride, Geraldine ( Jeri) Coleman, for 58 years. Preceding him in death was his wife; parents; four sib- lings, Clinton, Jr., Paul Gene, Jimmy and Doris (Shoemak- er) Coleman. He is survived by his broth- er and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Donna Coleman; his sis- ter-in-law, Phyllis Coleman; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sandy Coleman; his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Tom Mannell; his daughter, Karen Coleman; and five grandchildren, Mi- chael, Chris, Amanda, Stella and Charlotte. A memorial service will be at Cup Creek Cemetery in Vel- pen at a time yet to be deter- mined. PAUL LEROY SCHMIT T Paul Leroy Schmitt, 77, of Oakland City, entered rest on Tuesday May 11, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born on July 10, 1943, in Evansville, to Leroy and Eline Schmitt. He lived in Oakland City most of his life and worked for several years at Elberfeld Manufacturing Company. He was a very hard worker who provided for and loved his fam- ily very much. He was a Chris- tian man who loved Jesus and attended several churches over the years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (McGillem) Schmitt, whom he married in 1961; sons, Terry Schmitt, of Oakland City, and Kev- in (Kama) Schmitt, of Mack- ey; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Doris Price and Alice Burkhart, both of Francisco. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James and Leroy Schmitt. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday May 21, 2021, at Blackfoot Cemetery near Coe, with Rev. MICHAEL D. PERKINS Michael D. Perkins, 68, of Princeton, passed away Satur- day, May 15, 2021, at Deacon- ess Gateway Hospital in New- burgh, with his family by his side. He was born May 3, 1953, in Lawrence County, Ill., to Lawrence Perkins and Geor- gia Mae (Edwards) Perkins. He married the love of his life, Sarah Lesa Perkins, on October 18, 1994 in Gatlin- burg, Tenn. Mike retired in 2020 from Indianapolis Power & Light, now AES Indiana, af- ter 30 years of service. He also had his own remodeling busi- ness, doing many different kinds of jobs for clients over the years. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and I U Basket- ball fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and coin collecting. He had a heart of gold and was a loving husband, dad, son, brother, uncle and grandpa who will be greatly missed by his family. Mike and Lesa at- tended First General Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Sarah Lesa Perkins, of Princeton; daugh- ter, Dana (Mike) Wilson, of Petersburg; three grandchil- dren, Jeffrey (Kacey) Wilson, Megan ( Jamen) Frederick and Braden Wilson, all of Peters- burg; three great-grandchil- dren, Owen, Lilly and Car- ter Wilson, and Josie Fred- erick, who is due in August; brothers, Wayne (Carol) Per- kins, Wendell ( Judy) Perkins, Chuck Perkins and Steve (Nannette) Perkins, all of Vin- cennes; nieces and nephews; and his loving fur babies, Sage and Colby. His parents preceded him in death. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. CDT on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Colvin Funeral Home, 425 N. Main St., Princ- eton, with Pastor Brad Keenan officiating. Interment will fol- low at Shiloh Cemetery, near Hazleton. Visitation will be from 3- 8 p.m. CDT on Sunday at the funeral home.
