Once again, the Neal Center is working with local seniors to complete their income taxes free of charge. Due to the COVID pandemic, there are changes called for from AARP and the Neal Center. In order to have the Neal Center's tax preparers complete your taxes, the following rules MUST be followed: 1. All applicants must be a Cleveland County resident. 2. All applicants will be seen by appointment, NO WALK-IN'S. 3. All appointments will be made on a fi rst come, fi rst served basis and scheduling will only be done in two-week time periods. 4. All applicants must come to the Neal Center to pick up the preliminary forms required to complete your taxes. Pick-up time for the preliminary forms will be scheduled when your appointment is made, UNLESS you have an email address, at which the forms can be emailed to you. Documents are required for appointment confi rmation. 5. The number to call for appointments is 704/481-7392. 6. When you come for your appointment, be sure to have all of the preliminary forms, as well as your tax information with you. 7. When arriving at the center, you must remain in your vehicle until your appointment time. Applicants will not be allowed to wait inside the Neal Center. 8. Everyone entering the building must wear a mask and be subject to other COVID precautions. We will begin to take appointments on January 19, 2021. Tax preparation will begin on February 9, 2021 (please note new date). If you have questions about having your taxes done, please contact AARP Tax Preparation Line at 704/481-7392. You MUST leave your contact information when you call….otherwise, you will not receive a return call! IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN TAX TIME! Everyone knows medical tests are a financial vacuum!! Let Life Line Screening help! The Neal Senior Center is pleased to offer a preventive health event. Life Line Screening, a leading provider of community-based preventive health screenings, will host their affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings on February 4, 2021. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which is a leading cause of stroke; abdominal aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta; hardening of the arteries in the legs which is a strong predictor of heart disease; atrial fi brillation or irregular heart beat which is closely tied to stroke risk; and a bone density screening, for men and women, used to assess the risk of osteoporosis. Register for a "Wellness Package", which includes four vascular tests and osteopo- rosis screening from $149 ($139 with our member discount). All fi ve screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.
