Robert Lee "Bob" Carpenter, Jr. age 69 of Cherryville, passed away January 15, 2021 at his resi- dence. He was born September 30, 1951 in Lincoln County to the late Robert Lee Sr. and Merle Dellinger Carpenter. Mr. Carpenter served our country in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and the Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal. A native of Cleveland County, Carmen was the daughter of the late Sam and Betty Woods Christopher. She is survived by her husband, George Coles of the home; daughter, Miriam Fletcher and hus- band Austin of Tallahassee, FL; son, Samuel Coles of Tucson, AZ; sister, Cathy Arnold and husband Ernest of Spartanburg, SC; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Vick Moore; brothers, Charles Saine, Clyde Saine, Jr. and a sister, Myrtle Heusinkveld. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Grayson, her sister Alda May Grigg, brothers Aydlotte Philbeck, Thomas Philbeck, Broadus Philbeck, Jr., James Campbell Philbeck, and her brother-in-law, Ted Ervin Grayson.
