This Wednesday at 6 p.m., we return to our study discuss- ing "Twelve Extraordinary Women." It is preceded with a meal at 5:30 p.m. We also have activities and study groups for the children called "Kids' Wor- ship for Life Club." They will be reading, learning, memo- rizing scripture and receiving rewards. It is a new and excit- ing adventure that correlates to I Timothy 4:12, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." We hope you and your children can join us Wednesday, Dec. 9. This coming Sunday we will have our third (of four) mes- sages preparing our hearts for the celebration of the birth of our King Jesus. The birth of Jesus is the most celebrated and recognized (as well as the most important birth) in histo- ry. To prepare our hearts for the most special birth in histo- ry, we are taking the opportu- nity to review our King's most unique qualities and charac- teristics. In previous weeks, we have reviewed His per- fection (in which He sets the example for us), and His Su- premacy. This Sunday, we will feature another unique attribute of the King of Kings. We would love for you to join us as we wor- ship our Lord and prepare our hearts for the celebration of AYRSHIRE VALLEY G.B. CHURCH 1947 E. Co. Rd. 375 S. Thought for the week: "Here is a trustworthy say- ing that deserves full accep- tance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and re- ceive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invis- ible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever— Amen" (I Timothy 1:15 -17). Be in prayer for the lost, the sick, our church, our country and leaders, and always each other. God's blessings on you this week. Try to be kind and show God's love, because everyone is fighting some kind of battle. If you don't have a church home, we invite you to any of our services. Gary Watson, Pastor Nyles Head, Assoc. Main Street Petersburg 812-354-6775 The other night I was watch- ing a Christmas movie with my wife, and in the movie there was mom, separated from her child, and in a moment of sheer desperation, with gritted teeth told someone; this is Christ- mas. The Season of perpetual hope. Maybe, you're like that. You believe this is a season of perpetual joy and hope, it is Christmas after all, but you say it more in desperation, gritted teeth, barely holding on. You may even be saying it at this point, because you need to con- vince yourself more than any- one else. We have been talking about faith, hope, love, joy, VINCENT CHRISTIAN CHURCH 8264 E. Dr. Robert Asa, Minister what is good; And what does the Lord require of you, But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you God" (Micah 6:8)? Because He lives. John Manges, Minister peace, as Christians for al- most two centuries, and now, for most of us, we are being forced to answer the question, did we really believe it? This is the time where the rubber meets the road for the church, and we come to find that we really believe in the hope, the hope of salvation, and the hope of true life of- fered through us in the per- son of Jesus. I believe that if we focus our eyes in this sea- son, on the greatest joy, found in the birth of Jesus, we will learn to tether our hearts to the great hope we have in his life, death, and resurrection. Hope does not put us to shame. DJ Bryant, Pastor BRENTON CHAPEL CHURCH OF CHRIST 1194 E. CR 400 N.
