Kya Leighty had 13 points for the Chargers, who were on a two-game win streak. Pike Central's offense usu- ally runs through Mallory Hunt, their leading scorer on the inside. But Mt. Vernon's Jackson and Grace Schroed- er, at 5'10", had the size to neu- tralize Hunt in the middle. Ev- ery time she touched the ball, both Jackson and Schroeder double teamed her. Pike Cen- tral's outside shooting was cold. They hit no three-point- ers in the game, which al- lowed Mt. Vernon to pack the paint on defense. Mt. Vernon is one of the bet- ter teams in southern Indiana. The win improved their re- cord to 5 -0. So far, they have beaten all their opponents, Tell City, Bosse, North Posey and South Spencer by at least 20 points. Pike Central's game against South Spencer, scheduled for December 7, was cancelled due to their coach's wife dy- ing. It has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 9 with the JV game starting at 6:30 p.m. EST.
