(5th & final part of the "Offense" Series) S o m e people are w o r r i e d about what others think o f t h e m when they should be c o n c e r n e d about what God thinks. He is the sovereign and Holy God, the Creator of moral- ity and truth. In Acts 4:19, Apostles Peter and John ask, "Which is right in God's eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judge." Unfortunately, many have lost a reverential fear of God, because they believe they can take advan- tage of the Father's grace and patience. They blasphemy his name, disobey his com- mandments and even turn others away from the faith in favor of doing whatever they please. This is an extremely dangerous position to be in. In Mathew 10:28 Jesus states, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." In addi- tion, others grieve, resist, and quench the Holy Spirit instead of yielding and being sensitive to the Spirit. God's desires and thoughts which are found in the Holy Scriptures must be a priority in our lives. The Bible reveals the Lord's words and ways, and the Holy Spirit re- veals his heart and plans. Our heavenly Father is merciful and wants everyone to get it right. He waits for years, even generations for people to surrender to his love and perfect will for their lives - but he never forces anyone to do anything. Apostle Peter states, "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance". (2 Peter 3:9) He lovingly and firmly rebukes, warns, and waits. Finally, he judges if we don't turn from our sinful ways. Our job is to receive the correction, repent, and obey what the Lord has spoken to us. 2 Corinthians 5:10 states, "For we must all stand be- fore Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body." PRAY THIS PRAYER: "O loving and kind God, you are righteous and holy in all your ways. I come be- fore you broken and honest for that is what you desire. I can not hide anything from you. Forgive me for my sin of pride, doubt, and disobe- dience. Please cleanse me from wrong thoughts, ungodly words, and unholy behavior. I don't want to grieve the Holy Spirit. I need your Spirit who guides me into all truth, em- powers me to live for you, and works through me for your glory. Help me to be sensitive to your Spirit and quickly obey Offenses Against God DANYALE PATTERSON www.momsinprayer.org • Working Moms • Homeschool Moms • College Praying Moms • Moms of Career Age Young Adults • Military Families • Moms Praying For Prodigals • Special Needs Praying Moms • Church Based Groups • Language Based Groups • Prison Based Groups OUR MISSION: Moms in Prayer International impacts children and schools worldwide for Christ by gathering mothers to pray. c your word.
