Call Heather Ledbetter At The Neal Center 704-481-7390 Regularly Scheduled And Substitute Drivers Are Needed Even long before the COVID-19 crisis, the Neal Center food pantry has provided groceries for the older citizens of Cleveland County. This service has proven itself to be espe- cially valuable in recent weeks. Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, local compa- nies, organizations and churches, the Neal Center has been able to assist those facing the difficulty of purchasing food. If you're a Cleveland County resident, at least age 50, you're eli- gible for this service. Interested individuals must call the Neal Center at 704/482-3488 to arrange an appointment for eli- gibility. The center is currently open Monday through Thursday, 8AM-3PM. Appointments for this service are available from 11AM-2:30PM. Let the Neal Senior Center be of assistance during difficult times Need groceries? Smith Drug During these trying times with COVID-19, many seniors have been home with little or no out- side contact. The days can be quite long and very lone- some. If you're a senior citizen and would like some positive communication from someone, here are some valuable resources you can refer to for assistance: "Hope Line" for senior adults of NC experienc- ing isolation from social distancing. Call toll-free: 1-866-578-4673 or 1-866- 578-HOPE. "NC 2-1-1" will provide information and referrals for services. Simply dial 211 on any phone, 24 hours a day. "Well Connected" by Covia connects individuals to virtual classes, conver- sations, and activities by phone. Programs available in English and Spanish. For referral, call (877) 797- 7299 (English) or (877) 400-5867 (Spanish). "Lifetime Connections Without Walls" by Family Eldercare - Telephone activities program provid- ing opportunities for older adults to connect with oth- ers in their community and across the country using a telephone conference call system. For referral, call: (888) 500-6472 or email: lcww@familyeldercare.org "The Friendship Line" by Institute on Aging - both a crisis intervention hotline and a warmline for non-emergency emotional support calls. It is a 24-hour toll-free line and the only accredited crisis line in the country for people aged 60 years and older and adults living with disabilities. Call toll-free: (800) 971-0016 Even though COVID- 19 prevented the 2020 Cleveland County Senior Games from being held, entrants can still take part in the State Finals…..the "Virtual" State Finals! Join us for this one-of-a-kind opportunity in which no special skills or equipment is required. Virtual State Finals will include: Competition - By age and gender. Medals mailed to all winners. Affordability - $15 registration fee, no travel expenses. Fun and Friends - Seeing competitors from across the state via Zoom. Fitness - Practicing for competition and fitness raffles. State Finals T-Shirt - Available at online registra- tion checkout and on the Entry Form. $18 S-XL, $20 2XL, $22 3xl. Taxes and postage paid for registered participants.
