This person will work as a part of the GWU housekeeping team to perform cleaning services to maintain clean and sanitized facilities for our students, staff, and commu- nity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Perform tasks as are common for jani- torial work, such as vacuuming, dusting, the cleaning of win- dows, sinks, toilets, showers, and fl oors. These tasks will take place in residence halls, admin- istrative buildings, classroom buildings, and athletic facilities. •Help maintain the beauty of our campus by picking up trash in and around the buildings as needed. •Perform all duties in a safe manner as is covered in employee safety training. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an indi- vidual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfac- torily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required: •Education: A high school diploma or the equiva- lent is required. •Experience: At least two years of experience in housekeeping is preferred, with a knowledge of best cleaning practices. •Skills: The ability to read English language suf- fi ciently to understand written work orders and instructions, as well as directions for the prop- er mixture and use of cleaners, chemicals, and similar prod- ucts used in housekeeping is required. Skill in the proper operation and maintenance of housekeeping equipment is re- quired. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. •Effort: Requires the ability to lift and carry jani- torial supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis, prolonged walking or standing, and frequent bending, stoop- ing, kneeling, climbing, and reaching daily. Requires a full range of physical motion in or- der to perform all housekeeping duties. •Employees in this job classifi cation are designated as essential employees and must report to work as sched- uled when University offi ces are closed due to severe weather.
