Board President Jack Weller was Master of Ceremonies for the evening which honored many of last year's volunteers, supporters and participants in the Club's programs. Presenters and assistants for the evening were Jack Weller, Board Members Faye Burton and Bob Chadwick, Boys & Girls Club Program Director Mary Pass, Club Program Assistant Aja Pass, Youth Participants Whyneshia Harding and T'Shearer Sharpe and the Club Executive Director Ray Hurley. The following awards were presented: Youth Service Award – Jefferson Jack Weller presents Whyneshia Hardin Clemmons, Cynthia Moses, Cindy Smith, with Youth Of The Year Award Jeannine Streeper. Volunteer of the Year Award – Rich Berkowitz. Volunteer Service Award – Nikki Boykins, Lacey Chambless, Kyndal Davis, Taylor Jones, Shay Laborn, Craig Macopson, Molly McConnell, Cornelius McMullens, Joshua McMullens, Tamia McMullens, Mercedes Medina, Shaun Morris, Tyler Perez and Kimberly Walker. Executive Directors Award – William Lynch. Youth Mentor Award – Keeynan Pharr. Program Service Award – Rodney Borders, Faye Burton, Bob Chadwick, Bill Chambless, Craig Earwood, Sophia Goforth, Kim Greene, Steve Hudgins, Carolyn Jackson, Frank Lattimore, Ashley Lee, Kay Archer Price, Tim Quattlebaum, Glenda Schenck and Speed Williams. Man-Youth Award – DaShawn Dorsey. Woman-Youth Award – Aja Pass. Presidents Award – Jim Longbon. Foster Grandparent Award - Ethel Shell and Edna Wright. Good Friend Award – Kent Bridges. Board Excellence Award For Sustained Service – Mildred Keeter-Davis. Coaches Award For Youth Basketball Players – Shedrick Addison, Trey Jolly, Craig The Good Neighbor Award went to Webber Jr, Stephon Archie, Byron Hopper, Cleveland Community College Capstone Mya Addison and Bradley Littlejohn. Computer Program. Accepting the Youth of the Year Award – The Youth of award is CCC gradate Brandon Bridges. the Year Award was presented to a seven year Club member, Whyneshia Hardin. Whyneshia is presently a senior at Burns High School. Her favorite subjects are English, IT Academy and Principles of Business. She attends Hoppers Chapel Church and is involved with Church activities including Girls on a Mission, feeding the homeless and visiting residents of area nursing homes. Last summer Whyneshia volunteered in the Club's Summer Day Camp Program in the Teen Camper Leadership Program. She is presently a Junior Staff Member at the Club working as a Peer Helper in the Power Hour Homework Help Program. Whyneshia is the daughter of Calvin and Michelle Wilson. The presentation of her award included both a plaque to honor her achievement and a $100 gift certificate from the Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors. Teen Camper Leadership Award – The Jack Weller presented the Junior Teen Camper Leadership Award was present- Youth of the Year Award to five year ed to T'Shearer Sharpe. T'Shearer was an Club member Julian Roberts (right). active participant in the Club's 2012 Summer Day Camp Teen Leadership Program. She is presently a Junior Staff Member at the Club working as a Peer Helper. T'Shearer is a twelfth grader at the Cleveland Early College High School where she holds a 3.8 GPA. In December she will graduate with both her High School Diploma and an Associate's Degree. She is the daughter of Keith and Linda Sharpe. Her award included both a plaque to honor her achievement and a $100 gift certificate from the Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors. Junior Youth of the Year Award – The Junior Youth of the Year Award was presented to five year Club member Julian Roberts. Julian attends Shelby Middle School where he is a member of the BETA Club. Julian is well rounded in sports and has been an active participant in both football and baseball. He is a member of New Creation Church and is active in their Youth OF CLEVELAND COUNTY Ministry. He is the son of Chastity Thompson and Tim Ward. Julian received a plaque to honor his achievement and a $50 gift certificate from the Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors. Memorial Presentation – A memorial presentation for the family of Ruth Schweppe was announced by Board President Jack Weller. Ruth was a long time active Board member of the Club and served the Club for several decades as a Board Member, an officer and a dedicated good will ambassador. Ruth was a true Joe Harrand and Gwen Harden were recognized by champion for all kids. Both she the Boys & Girls Club of America for their signifiand her husband Jack were very cant donations to the club. At their February 2013 meeting the Board voted unanimously to amend the name to be the Jack & Ruth Schweppe Summer Day Camp. Jack Weller announced that the memorial presentation names the 2012 s Award the "Ruth Schweppe Award". John Schweppe Jr. and his wife Stuart accepted the presentation on behalf of the entire Schweppe family. Ruth Schweppe Honor Day Camper Award – The youth recipient of the "Ruth Schweppe Award" was Maraja Pass. Maraja is a second grader at Jefferson School where her favorite subject is Outstanding Service To Youth Award AIG. She has been a Club member for was presented to Mary Pass (center) by past three years and is active in both the President, Bob Chadwick. Jack & Ruth Schweppe Summer Day Camp and the After-School Program where she has played in the CADETS Basketball Program since becoming a Club member. Maraja is the daughter of Cal and Chris Pass. She attends Durham United Methodist Church where she participates in the Sunday School Program and the Children's Church. She loves to read, play basketball and most importantly spend time with her family. Maraja received a plaque honoring her achievement and a $50 gift certificate from the Boys & Girls Club's Board of Directors. Jack Weller presented the Presidents Award to Jim Longbon (left).
