Poplar Street, Petersburg CLARIFICATION The story regarding coach Noah Croak that ran in the sports section of The Press-Dispatch last week stat- ed coach Croak's parents resided in Petersburg. Noah Croak's mother, Jody, reports that she is a lifelong Petersburg resident and has been di- vorced for three years. Croak's fa- ther, Bruce, lives in Washington. Pike Central bests North Knox 60-24 The Pike Central Middle School wres- tling team posted a 60 -24 win over the North Knox Warriors that featured four pins and six wins by forfeit last week. Gage Morton won his 85 -pound match by pin, as did Markus Hutchison at 95. Grant Boyd won by pin at 102 pounds and Hayden Goins defeated his 220 -pound opponent also by pin. Pike Central Middle Schoolers Billy Like (80), Aiden McGriffen (125), Sky- lar Shelton (150), Isaac Shimer (160) and Remington Bottoms (195) all won their matches by forfeit. Girls edged by Jasper and Tecumseh Last Tuesday's middle school meet at Jas- per ended with the Pike Central Middle School Lady Chargers (80) edged by both the Jasper Wildcats (116) and the Tecum- seh Braves (100). Seventh grader Izzy Luker grabbed the only first for the Lady Chargers, winning the 50 breast stroke in 39.24. Jackie Berry was nipped out of first in the 50 back by .01 seconds, clocking 39.09. Berry also lost a close one for first in the 50 free with a time of 31.72. Taylor Oswalt got the fourth place in 34.59. Xavery Weisman clocked 35.39 for sec- ond in the 50 fly and took fourth in the 100 IM (1:22.87). Alexis Weisman was fourth in the 100 IM (1:29.23) and Taylor Oswalt was sixth in the 50 fly. Kelsea Query was third in the 200 free (3:03.99) and Gabby Collins was fifth (3:12.01). Three relay teams were second behind the Jasper Wildcats. Jackie Berry, Izzy Luker, Zavery Weisman and Ells Adams combined for a second in the 200 medley relay (2:31.11) and Easton Bailey, Addy Russell, Taylor Os- walt and Alexis Oswalt were sixth in 2:48.24. Gabby Collins, Kelsea Query, LJ Deffen- doll and Jamie Sallie teamed for second in the 200 free (2:39.49). Xavery Weisman, Jackie Berry, Izzy Luker and Addy Russell combined for second in the 400 free relay (4:36.90). Ella Adams, Alexis Oswalt, Kelsea Query and Bailey Rainey teamed for fourth (5:57.10). Emily Sandchez, Melissa Dunn, Bailey Fox and Bailey Rainey clocked 3:04.98 in the 200 free relay, and Izzy Luker, Kylee Weathers, Ella Adams and Taylor Oswalt were DQ'd. Lillian Mann, LJ Deffendoll, Gab- by Collins and Jamie Sallee clocked 8:25.36 in the 400 free relay. Addy Russell swam a 1:13.98 to fifth in the 100 free, with Alexis Oswalt sixth (1:18.88) and Bailey Rainey in at 1:24.38. SWIMMERS NOTCH TWO PAC WINS AT SOUTH SPENCER 20 combined firsts recorded By James Capozella Press-Dispatch Sports sports@pressdispatch.net Six relay wins and 14 individ- ual firsts put the Charger swim clubs in the driver's seat at South Spencer this past Monday. The boys claimed wins in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relays, and Awstyn Luff, Cobey McKinney and Wyatt Luff each won two individual events. Ethan Mann and Jayden Clark each had firsts in the 137-38 win. The Charger girls hauled in a 117-48 PAC win with three re- lay wins and two individual wins each by Jackie Berry and Xavery Weisman. Addy Russell and Izzy Luker earned first place points in the 100 free and 50 breast re- spectively. RELAYS PREVAIL The Charger 200 medley re- lay, comprised of Wyatt Luff, Ethan Mann, Cobey McKinney and Awstyn Luff clocked 2:26.71 for the win and Jacob Pauw, Ty Decoursey, Jaden Nolan and Grant Stinson were second in 2:47.68. Jacob Pauw, Jaden No- lan, Grant Stinson and Jacoby Smith teamed for the win in the 200 free relay in 2:24.39. Tom- my Hayes, Blaine Barnett, Grif- fin Correll and Aksel Onyett placed second in 2:39.67. Cobey McKinney, Ethan Mann, Wyatt Luff and Awstyn Luff took first in the 400 free relay (5:01.85). Jacob Pauw, Jacoby Smith, Jaden Nolan and Ty DeCoursey placed second in 5:37.21. The girls were first and sec- ond in the 200 medley relay with Easton Bailey, Addy Russell, Taylor Oswalt and Athalee Love- less first in 2:49.08. Gabby Col- lins, Jamie Sallee, Alexis Oswalt and Kylee Weathers teamed for second in 2:50.75. The team of Jackie Berry, Izzy Luker, Xavery Weisman and Ella Adams were DQ'd with split times of 40.82, 41.13, 36.6 and 33.77. Ella Adams, Kylee Weathers, Taylor Oswalt and Kelsea Que- ry teamed for the 200 free re- lay win in 2:31.16 and Athalee Loveless, Bailey Rainey, LJ Def- fendoll and Jamie Sallee placed third in 2:37.48 just three sec- onds out of second. Bailey Fox, Melissa Dunn, Emily Sanchez and Hannah Rainey placed fifth in 3:16.74. Xavery Weisman, Jackie ber- ry, Izzy Luker and Addy Russell swam a 5:21.50 to first in the 400 free relay and Ella Adams, Alex- is Oswalt, Bailey Rainey and Athalee Loveless took second in 5:55.45. Kelsea Query, LJ Def- fendoll, Gabby Collins and Jamie Sallee placed fourth in 5:58.51, just three seconds out of second. Awztyn Luff won the 200 free in 2:35. 48 with Xander Park- er second in 5:04.57 and Grif- fin Correll fourth (3:14.47). Luff won the 50 fly in 35.06 with Jacoby Smith and Jayden No- lan completing the sweep. Wy- att Luff claimed the 50 back stroke win with Jacoby Smith and Tommy Hayes second and third in the sweep of the event. Max Burkhart, Layton Wiscav- er and Levi Bailey did not score. Luff also won the 50 free (31.33) with Grant Stinson and Aksel Onyett finishing second and third. Andrew Johnson, Blaine Barnett and Carter McCain did not score. Cobey McKinney was first in the 100 free in 1:09.54 and Jacob Pauw and Grant Stinson com- pleted the sweep. McKinney also won the 100 IM clocking 1:21.09 with Ethan Mann (1:29.18) and Ty DeCoursey (1:38.80) com- pleting the sweep. Jayden won the diving (62.80) with Xan- der Parker second (52.00) and Aksel Onyett fourth (42.85). Ethan Mann was first in the breast stroke in 43.24 with Ty DeCoursey second (45.20) and Aksel Onyett fourth 1:04.37). Xavery Weisman won the 100 IM (1:21.06) and also the 50 fly (35.08) with Taylor Os- walt (42.60) and Lillian Mann (46.85) second and third. Alex- is Oswalt (1:29.74) and Taylor Oswalt (1:37.05) were second and third in the IM for the oth- er sweep. Jackie Berry swam a 39,55 to first in the 50 back stroke with Easton Bailey second (46.88) and Gabby Collins fourth (47.05). Berry took the 50 free in 32.21 with Athalee Loveless third (36;76) and Kylee Weath- ers fourth (37.77). Emily San- chez, Hannah Rainey and Me- lissa Dunn did not score. Izzy Luker won the 50 breast in 39.54 with team mate Addy Russell second (46.41) and Ja- mie Salle fourth (48.69). Ad- dy Russell took first in the 100 free in 1:18.66 with Alexis Os- walt second (1:19.72) and Izzy Luker third (1:19.79). Kelsea Query placed second in the 200 free in 3:03.99 with Gabby Col- lins third (3:11.68) and LJ Def- fendoll fourth (3:21.59). SPORTS BRIEFS NJCAA suspends all competition Vincennes University reports that the National Junior College Athletic Association has suspended all com- petition beginning last Saturday through Friday, April 3. The Mid- West Athletic Conference, which in- cludes VU's baseball program, has suspended all spring sports until April 1. Red Ryder BB gun shoot American Legion Post 256 in Oak- land City is hosting a Red Ryder BB Gun Shoot on Saturday, March 21 beginning at 1 p.m. Admission is free and cost is $2 per round. It is indoor shooting with rounds like a shooting board match. There are meat prizes, a youth BB gun give- away round and a $50 round (if all posts are filled). Adults and youth of all ages are welcome. No pellet or better quali- ty guns are allowed and loaner guns will be provided for use. The BB gun match is sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. SPRING SPORTS TAB DELAYED With schools on an indefinite hiatus, The Press-Dispatch spring sports section will be delayed or potentially cancelled, depending on what the schools decide to do in response to COVID-19. Also, The Press-Dispatch sports section may be curtailed or can- celled, again, depending on when or if school sports resume this year. Weathers also finished sixth in the 100 IM against South Spencer. Jamie Sallee swam in the second place medley relay, the 200 relay, and was fourth in the 50 breast stroke. Addy Russell was part of the win- ning 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. Jackie Berry won the 50 free, 50 back and was part of the win- ning 400 free relay. Carter McCain swam in the 200 free relay event and clocked 49.13 in the 50 free. PCMS prevails over Jasper and Tecumseh The Pike Central Middle School boys' swim team bettered the host Jasper and Tecumseh on Tuesday March 10, featur- ing two wins by Awstyn Luff, and firsts by the 200 medley and 200 free relay teams. Wyatt Luff won the 50 back stroke in 36.77 and Jacob Pauw was second (40.30). Cobey McKinney claimed a close second in his 100 free race, clocking 1:07.25. Awstyn Luff won the 200 free, clocking 2:20.72, and then claimed the 50 fly first in 34.75. Wyatt Luff, Ethan Mann, Aw- styn Luff and Cobey McKinney teamed for a first in the 200 medley with a time of 2:25.00. Wyatt Luff, Jacoby Smith, Cobey McKinney and Awstyn Luff combined for a 2:06.60 clocking to win the 200 free relay, also over a very good Jasper Wildcat relay team. Xander Parker, Griffin Correll, Jaden Nolan and Ty Decoursey took second in the 400 free relay clocking 6:04.06. The team edged Jasper 116 to 100 and bettered Tecumseh's 58 team points. Oth- ers scoring top finishes were: Xander Park- er second in diving (58.50) and Jayden Clark third (56.95); Cobey McKinney third in the 100 IM (1:20.08); Jacoby Smith third in the 50 fly (42.95); Wyatt Luff was fourth in the 50 free (31.19) and Jacob Pauw was fifth (33.91); Cobey McKinney was third in the 100 IM (1:20.08) and Ethan Mann was fifth (1:28.45). Tommy Hayes, Blaine Barnett, Griffin Correll and Aksel Onyett placed third in the 200 free relay, clocking 2:36.40. Jacob Pauw, Ty DeCoursey, Jacoby Smith and Grant Stinson teamed for fourth in the 200 medley relay (2:42.96). Ethan Mann took fifth in the 50 breast in 44.93 and Ty De- Coursey was sixth (46.20). Xander Parker was fifth in the 200 free and Grant Stinson was sixth in 100 free (1:28.81). Xander Parker placed second in one meter diving and clocked 1:27.26 in the 100 free. Emily Sanchez swam in the 200 free relay and also the 50 free, clocking 43.61, along with Katie Burkhart and Melissa Dunn. Kelsea Query took a third in the 200 free, clocking 3:03.99. Query was also a member of the second place 200 free relay team. Ella Adams was a part of the second place 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay. Cobey McKinney churned his way to first on the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and claimed second in the 100 free.
