When You Have to Choose "Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel, and Samuel said to Jesse, 'The Lord has not chosen any of these.' Samuel said to Jesse, 'Are all your sons here? ' And he said, 'There remains yet the young- est, but he is keeping the sheep.' And Samuel said to Jesse, 'Send and bring him; for we will not sit down un- til he comes here.' He sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and had beau- tiful eyes, and was hand- some. The Lord said, 'Rise and anoint him; for this is the one.' Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anoint- ed him in the presence of his brothers; and the spir- it of the Lord came mighti- ly upon David from that day forward. Samuel then set out and went to Ramah" (I Sam- uel 16:10 -13). David wasn't the one to stand out. Even his father left him in the field when Jes- se was showing off his boys. God saw something Jesse and Samuel didn't and the rest is history. God bless. Shamrock St. Patrick used the shamrock to teach people about the Godhead. Hold- ing up a shamrock, he challenged them, "Is this one leaf, or three? " Inev- itably, people replied that it was both, prompting St. Patrick to draw the analo- gy that so, too, is God: one God in three Persons — the Holy Trinity. "Lord, I can't go on," he said, "I have too heavy of a cross to bear." The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish." The man was filled with relief and said, "Thank you, Lord," and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. And the Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in." When life's problems seem over- whelming, it helps to look around and see what oth- er people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagined. Continue to pray for one another. We invite all of you to come and worship with us. Roy Stilwell, Pastor Pam Lemond, Reporter VIEWPOINT Continued from page 1 ments, but it must never ac- commodate sin or evil of any kind. Today there are lead- ers in high places who would like to deny Christians their freedoms of religion and lib- erty to proclaim the Gos- pel. In loving and convinc- ing ways Christians are to let their voices be heard. In America we must not give in to sins like abortion, gay marriage and suppressing free speech. The Christian faith is one of love, forgiveness and life changing possibilities. It is the only religion that has a Savior who died for our sins and was resurrected and is coming again. Christians have a personal faith that brings joy, peace and the as- surance of eternal life. It is the only hope for a sin-sick world. and allow to air dry as it is suppose to remove germs as it evaporates. We will get through this if we just if we stay patient and vigilant over our own actions. The virus concern has all the DSL's entertainment schedule cancelled as the outside volunteer events have been cancelled. This hurts because we have made many friends in the many nursing homes we play for. I have been practicing sev- eral new songs as we find ourselves with a little spare time on our hands. I certain- ly agree with the lock down, because the virus would spread rapidly in the halls of a nursing facility if it were to be introduced there. Our Lions club anniver- sary was celebrated last Thursday night and we had several folks there. There was a story about us a cou- ple of weeks back in the Dis- patch and it told of the ma- ny projects Lions were in- volved in. We would like to thank the many merchants who have been so generous with their financial support. Since we have been selling sponsorships for our annu- al Car Shows. We have seen many tee shirts with the sponsor names on it and we do our best to put your busi- ness in front of the public. I was blessed to have the opportunity to bring the me- morial message to commem- orate our fallen fellow Lions from the past year. I count it an honor to have known their objective of making someone else's life better is the same as our own. Their self giving has been shown to be a great example for each of us to follow. Lions have a loyalty to their coun- try and their fellow man- kind. We didn't hold services at Velpen General Baptist Sun- day as we were asked to wor- ship with the Littles General Baptist and we accepted. We will be having church next Sunday at Velpen. We brought the message at Littles and had a great time worshipping with them. The 23rd Psalm was the background for our ser- mon. Many questions were asked of us and the biggest question of all is God truly your shepherd and do you listen to his voice or are you so preoccupied with life you can't hear His voice. Lots of people feel when the Bible speaks to them they are being scolded or dressed down, but it is on- ly God saying I love you straighten up and go in the right direction. I would rec- ommend searching the scripture any minister uses and see what God is telling you so you too can hear the message from God. It never bothers me whenever some- one says, "Preacher, I didn't see what you were say- ing but I seen this." I know then that you heard and you are trying to help me learn as well. If more preachers would listen as well as they preach our churches would benefit. Well it is time to shut up my mug and do like I always ask of you. Go out and bless God's people, because we are all God's people. "A best friend is like a four-leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have." This week, PAWS is featuring a mild-man- nered young canine named Zoey, who is very agreeable to engage in whatever activity is go- ing on at the shelter for the day. She especially loves to take walks with volunteers or play with her fellow canines in the dog yard. She has some hound heritage, ador- able soft, floppy ears, soft, smooth fur, which is black and tan, is a me- dium-sized dog and is ap- proximately a year old. She is very congenial and perky, and can be adopted by calling 812- 354-9894. $UH\RXOLYLQJZLWKDQ XQGLDJQRVHGVOHHSGLVRUGHU" 6OHHS'LVRUGHUV&HQWHU 66HYHQWK6WUHHW 9LQFHQQHV,1 JVKYLQRUJ *RRG6DPDULWDQ¶VDFFUHGLWHG6OHHS'LVRUGHUV&HQWHUFDQGLDJQRVHDQGWUHDW WKRVHZKRDUHVXIIHULQJIURPDVOHHSUHODWHGGLVRUGHU(TXLSSHGZLWKVWDWHRI WKHDUWVOHHSWHVWLQJIDFLOLWLHVUHJLVWHUHGWHFKQRORJLVWVDQGH[SHUWSK\VLFLDQV ZHDUHFRPPLWWHGWRLPSURYLQJ\RXUVOHHSKHDOWKDQGTXDOLW\RIOLIH &RPPRQV\PSWRPVRIDVOHHSGLVRUGHULQFOXGH 6QRULQJ 8QFRQWUROOHGKLJKEORRG SUHVVXUH 1LJKWPDUHV ([FHVVLYHZHLJKWJDLQ 'HFUHDVHGOLELGR 3HUVRQDOLW\FKDQJH ([FHVVLYHGD\WLPH VOHHSLQHVV (UHFWLOHG\VIXQFWLRQ 5HVWOHVVOHJV ,QVRPQLD 6WRSSHGEUHDWKLQJDW QLJKW &DUGLDFDUUK\WKPLDDQG KHDUWIDLOXUH ([FHVVLYHVZHDWLQJ &KURQLFKHDGDFKHDQG GL]]LQHVV ,I\RXDUHH[SHULHQFLQJDQ\RIWKHVHV\PSWRPVDQGZRXOG OLNHDQDSSRLQWPHQWZLWKD*RRG6DPDULWDQ6OHHS0HGLFLQH 3K\VLFLDQQRUHIHUUDOQHFHVVDU\FDOO )RUJHQHUDOTXHVWLRQVDERXWVOHHSWHVWLQJWDONWRDVOHHS WHFKQRORJLVWLQWKH6OHHS'LVRUGHUV&HQWHUDW $UH\RXOLYLQJZLWK DQXQGLDJQRVHGVOHHS GLVRUGHU"
