Petersburg seniors meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the courthouse basement. We received one postcard this week at Sweets Column, Winslow, IN 47598. Postcard # 669 is a night scene of tall, colorful, lit up buildings of all shapes and sizes. The main road- way has so many lights it looks like it's daytime. In the background, it has an outline of rolling hills with a pink and purple sky. The big sign, with a star on top, reads "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nev." The back reads, "Hello, Sweets. We are having a great time in sunny Las Vegas. Happy St. Pat's Day. Your Vegas four." Thank you, Vegas four, for postcard # 669 of Las Ve- gas and Happy St. Pat's Day to you all also. Like the bot- tom of the postcard said, this place is crazy cool. Winslow Patoka River isn't overflowing, but with the storms that will come in the area on Thursday, March 12, it should get a bit higher. The T V says our ar- ea should get severe storms along with tornadoes, but we may only get the heavy rain. Some daffodils are in bloom and some are still growing. The daylilies are growing with green blades and the irises and flags are growing taller. The trees that get leaves on them ear- ly are in buds because they are falling all over the porch- es and cars. The coyotes are still around, and sometimes they get close enough that the dogs have barked and you hear the coy- ote bark back at them as they go to the back woods. My mom, Mil- dred, and my sis- ter, Terri Ann, have been visiting for two weeks un- til Friday the 13th, when Mom went back to Illinois. Mom has her good and bad days, and Terri Ann took her out to Jasper one night. That wore them out for a few days. She was hoping to see Jan- ice and Aunt Jean, but the aches and pains sometimes say "no." Friday the 13th, before Mom goes home, all of us are going out to eat to cel- ebrate my 72 years, and right now, I don't have any idea where we all will meet to enjoy a meal. I'm thinking Mexican or a buffet some- where, but I might change my mind before we leave. Pi Day was Saturday, March 14. Pi in Math is 3.14, so since it hasn't happened yet, like St. Patrick's Day, I will have to tell you all the en- joyment we all had as we held our first Pi Day in Winslow. All of us Lions hope this will go over great and we can en- joy Pi Day next year. Spring is finally here, so now the flowers, trees, grass and the prepa- ration of your garden spot will begin. The weather will begin to be that jack- et or sweater weather and the old say- ing of march winds bring the April showers, and soon, May flowers. Spring is also spring cleaning and a time to air out the bedding with that fresh air. Last Thursday evening, with a break in the storms, we drove through fog on Highway 61 by the river and railroad tracks, then up the hill to Ayrshire Rd. Then af- ter it rained again, all the fog was gone in a few hours. This just in: Winslow Town Hall has a drive-up window you can use instead of going inside. Inside is be- ing closed to the public be- cause of the Coronavirus. It's not in our area yet, but precautions are being used. As the lights begin to dim for this week, continue to keep an eye on family and friends. Slow down and en- joy the scenery. As always, smile, wave and say "Hi" to everyone you see this week.
