Barton Township Elementary Barton Township schools have a "promotion day" each year during Read Across America Week. Students from each grade move up to the next grade level to find out what to expect the next school year. Teachers from each grade discuss next year's curriculum and read a book to the class. This day also happened to be "Wear Cats or Hats" spirit day Kindergarten being read to by first grade teacher Kalyn Nossett. First grade being read to by second grade teacher Brittnee Short, AK A Cat in the Hat. Second grade being read to by third grade teacher Lori Elaman. Fourth grade being read to fifth grade teacher Karen Miller. Third grade being read to by fourth grade teach- er Diana Cox. Fifth grade being read to by sixth grade teach- er Susan Smith. Sixth grade being read to by kindergarten teacher Emily Hudson. East Gibson Superintendent Dr. Mike Brewster read to the Mrs. Lori Elaman's third grade class in honor of "Read Across America" Week. Mrs. Susan Smith's sixth grade class at Barton participated in a Motte and Bailey Castle Chal- lenge in the classroom. Here, Jakob Ewing works on constructing his castle.
