Friday, March 13: Stuffed Mrs. Meyer's seventh grade Enrichment classes worked on a group project after reading the novel, "The Chronicles of Narnia; The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." The project was choice based and the groups could choose three of the nine options given. One of the options was to create a diorama that showed the wardrobe on the outside and the world of Narnia on the inside. There were many groups that chose this option and the projects turned out amazing. Other choices included writing stories about the main characters, and future adventures and stories about other magical elements that occurred in the novel. They could choose to create an original song with multiple verses and a chorus, create a new soundtrack for the movie with modern music/songs, and even create character bookmarks that detailed main character traits and illustrations. There was defi- nitely something for every student to choose that they could enjoy. Mr. Ivan Mason's sixth grade Social Studies classes finished the chapter by viewing pictures of Eu- rope. The students learned about the buildings, roads and landmarks. Mrs. Janna Corn brought in mon- ey from Europe and the students got a chance to view the money and compare it to the U.S. dollar. Mrs. Danette Weisman's sixth grade's recent egg experiment in science class. The challenge was to build a car out of limited supplies (four wheels, two axles, axle housings, three sheets of paper and glue) that was both fast and safe for a raw egg. Students spent several days building and testing their cars on an inclined track. The race day team winners by class.
